Daryl pulls into the dirt road leading to Beths farmhouse. He never usually puts much effort in his appearance but as he rode his bike down the dirt road he went slow to make sure his blue cotton shirt and new jeans didn't get dirty. He felt foolish standing in the department store buying them but knew his ripped jeans wouldn't make the best impression on Hershel Greene. Beth had told him it didn't matter what he wore but he shaved and combed his hair just to be safe. He almost punched Merle before he left for makin jokes as he left for Beths house.

"Well would you look at that. Darylina you ain't never looked so purty. A shower does you well baby brother. You look like one of them gay boys on TV. You ain't switching teams on me are ya darlyina?" Merle said as he watched Daryl get ready.

"Shut the hell up Merle." Daryl said for the tenth time.

Now as he walked up the stairs of the farmhouse he wished he listened to Merle. He felt like a idiot with his hair all pushed down. He ran his fingers through his hair messing it up a bit and took a deep breath, feeling a little more like himself. He lifted his hand to knock on the door when Maggie opened it for him to come in.

"Heard your bike from a mile away." Maggie explained as Daryl stepped inside the cozy farm house. "By the way, strike one with the choice of vehicle."

Daryl wasn't sure what she meant by that but was distracted when Shawn rounded the corner to join them. Daryl had never been to a family dinner and as Shawn and Beths mother came to greet him he could feel himself getting more and more uncomfortable.

"The man of the hour." Shawn said putting his hand on daryls shoulder. Daryl tried to hide his discomfort as Beths mother moved in to give him a hug.

"There is nothing I could say that would be enough to show you how grateful I am for what you've done for my boy." Beths mother said pulling him in for another hug.

Maggie noticed Daryl awkwardly accept the gratitude and couldn't help but laugh.

"Come on mom, let the man breath." Maggie said and guided Daryl into the living room.

As Daryl looked around the large room filled with furniture and family photos he felt a pang of uncertainty as to why he was there. He listened as Maggie told him what was for dinner but quickly lost focus when he saw Beth coming down the stairs. Everyone noticed his eyes fall upon her and they also noticed the way his eyes lit up at the sight of her. Maggie glanced at her mother and they both smiles at each other.

"Hi Daryl." Beth said gracefully coming down the stairs. Daryl watched her long thin legs move towards him as her yellow dress shifted around her. She was bare foot and Daryl knee he had never seen anything as beautiful as her in that moment.

"Beth." He said and nodded at her. She blushed under his gaze and no one spoke as the two of them started a moment too long.

"Mhmm," Hershel cleared his throat coming to stand next to Beth, putting his arm around her shoulders. He looked at Daryl and have him a forced smile, "Glad you made it."

"Thanks for invitin me sir." Daryl said and held out his hand to him. Hershel shook his hand and then nodded towards the door.

"I'd like to show you around the farm before dinner. Glad you wore boots." Hershel said. Daryl watched Hershel head towards the door and smiled at Beth as she held onto his forearm and whispered "good luck".
