"So I would say Daryls told me a lot about you, but to be honest I don't even know much about Daryl." Tracey, Jax's wife said as she handed Beth her plate.
"Oh, well um..." Beth said as they sat at the table, she was trying to think of the first thing to say when Jax and Daryl came back in. Beth sighed with relief, still embarrassed about this morning.
"Smells great." Daryl grumbled coming to sit next to Beth.
"Got a good feeling bout the race today Trace." Jax said as he leaned down and kissed her on the top of her head. He pointed at Daryl, "this boys got magic hands. We just checked the car out and it's a beauty."
Tracey smiled softly at Daryl.
"So Beth, Daryl tells me your Hershel's daughter. I used to take Franz to him back when he was alive. Your dads a good man." Jax said as he took a bite of his bacon.
"Franz was Jax's fifth rescue animal, he was a goat." Tracey explained.
"Oh." Beth said nodding her head. She saw Daryl smirk over at her slightly, making her think about last night, she blushed.
"Franz was a good ole goat..." Jax said and Tracey rolled her eyes and then smiled over at Beth.
"Jax likes to rescue things. Last month I found two baby geese in our shed wrapped up in a blanket."
"Their mother left them, I had to do something." Jax said and then waved his hand then looked across the table at Daryl , "Anyway... Monkey is on a losin streak and he's countin' on the race today to set him back on track. There's a lot of money on the line for this one and if he wins you get half the cut."
"Just for fixin up the car?" Daryl asked surprised.
"Is there a lot of money in street racin'?" Beth asked innocently and this made Tracy and Jax laugh.
"Street racin' is like goin' to Vegas... The amount of money you put into your car you can usually expect to double, if not triple, the amount you get back." Jax explained to her.
"If you win." Daryl added.
"Yup, if you win." Jax pointed his fork at Daryl and then looked at him seriously for a moment. "40 grand for the winner today... That means if Monkey wins, that's close to 20 grand in your pocket."
Beth almost spit up her water and stared at him for a moment. Daryl just nodded and then took another bite of his food, seeming uninterested in the money.
"Here's to Monkey and Daryls magic hands." Jax said lifting his glass of water.
_>_>_>_>_>_>
"It looks perfect on you." Tracey said to Beth as she pulled on the racing jacket she gave her.
"Are you sure you don't mind?" Beth asked her.
"Honey, it's almost 40 degrees out here. You need it." Tracey said and grabbed her shoulder. Beth watched her walk over to Jax and the racer they called Monkey. He was short with dark hair and a mustache. Beth pulled her arms around herself trying to keep warm as she looked around at the multiple cars that pulled up over the last hour. She didn't know anyone and she felt a little out of place as she searched for Daryl in the crowd. She was about to go ask Tracey where he was when her phone buzzed in her pocket. She looked at the number and then became confused, someone from California was calling her.
"Hello." She said putting the phone to her ear.
"Is this Beth Greene?"
"Yes it is."
