As Daryl made his way towards Beth she couldn't help but find the smirk playing on his lips out of place. He winked at her and bowed slightly as he stopped in front of her chair. He held out his hand and she laughed, not used to him being publicly playful, and took his hand and followed him to the dance floor. She felt Daryl take a step closer and put his hand on the small of her back, pulling her into him so that his lips were hardly an inch from her forehead. The soft music playing in the background made her head spin along with the fragrance of him which she found even more intoxicating every time she was around him. She giggled as he dipped her once and pulled her back to him, his smile as wide as she has even seen it.
"What has you smiling so much?" Beth asked him and he spun her around making her laugh even louder. He leaned his mouth close to her ear and she felt a chill run down her spine as she felt the heat of his breath along her neck.
"Never had a reason to, til you."
Beth felt her face flush as he lightly kissed her under her ear. She shut her eyes and wanted nothing more than to feel his breath in other places along her body. She was brought away from her thoughts when Glenn pulled her hand and into him to dance. Daryl gladly let him take the lead and he stood there awkwardly with his hands in his pocket looking he around. He started to head towards the drink table, unsure of what to do without Beth by his side, when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Maggie reaching to put her hands on his shoulders.
"Mind if I steal a dance?" She smiled at him and Daryl nodded uncomfortably and looked over to where Beth was being glided across the dance floor with Glenn. She shot him a smile in between turns and he watched her throw her head back laughing. "You love her don't you?"
Daryl looked at the woman who had her hands on him now and then saw her glance at Beth.
"You look at her like you do." She said. "I haven't seen her so caught up in a boy before. With her other boyfriends it was always... I don't know, lacking something. I never really saw her grow, ya know?"
Daryl shifted awkwardly under her gaze, not sure what to say to Beth's sister. He didn't like thinking of Beth being with anyone else but he couldn't help but feel his heart beat faster as he heard what Maggie was saying about him. He loved knowing that he could be something of worth for Beth, even if he never believed he was.
"I ain't never met anyone like her before." Daryl admitted and Maggie smiled at him.
"She is one of a kind and my baby sister, so if I hear anything about you breakin' her heart just know that I will come after you."
Daryl laughed a bit at this until he saw Maggie's eye brows lift making her eyes serious.
"Never." Daryl said knowing he had never spoke words more true than those.
"Good. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go steal my husband." Before she left she leaned in and kissed Daryl on the cheek and smiled at him.
"Looks like you just got my sisters approval." Beth said coming to stand with Daryl now.
"Somethin' like that." He said and pulled her close to him. He pushed a piece of her hair behind her hair and leaned in to kiss her lips gently. He wasn't sure what was making him feel so drawn to her in that moment but with the music playing and people shuffling around him he knew he wouldn't want to be anywhere but where she was for the rest of his life.
