"WHAT THE HELL?! AUTUMN!!!" A shrill voice cried out.
Autumn woke up in a daze, her whole body hurt and it was really dark.
"Who's that?" The voice made Autumn jump. 'Devon'
"My foster mom. She'll think you had something to do with it."
"Well, I'm not leaving you." Devon's hands touched her waist and made her feel a little safer.
"Are you sure? She'll blame you. Unless...." she trailed off.
Her foster mothers heels clicked down the hall.
"Kiss me."
"What?"
"Just do it, trust me."
"But..." He didn't have time to finish the sentence, her lips were already on his.
"Autumn?" Her light flicked on and a blonde woman stood in her doorway. "What the hell?"
Autumn looked at the blonde woman and said. "My boyfriend saved me from my drunken uncle. If he wasn't here I might've been dead. Not like you'd care."
"Believe me, I would."
"Sarah, you've never cared. If you did you'd be more concerned for me and not the doors that need fixed."
"Well," she said annoyed, "do you need to go to the hospital to get checked out?"
"No."
"I'll take you sweetie." Devon chimed in.
"No Devon."
"Yes, take her." Sarah rudely ordered.
"I will."
"NO!"
"Don't worry hun, it'll be ok. Sarah, I can take it from here."
Sarah walked away, clearly annoyed and angry.
"I'm not going."
"We can just go to my house for a few hours."
Autumn thought for a moment and decided that it might be best.
"Ok, I'll go. Is there anyone at your house?"
"Only Brian."
"Ok, lets just go." Autumn stood up and suddenly felt dizzy.
Devon pulled her close before she was even close to falling over.
"C'mon."
They walked slowly to the Devon's car. He opened the passenger door for her and got in the drivers seat. Autumn paid no attention to the car, just to Devon. He smelled phenomenal. She looked him over until her eyes found his hands. She stared and instantly felt terrible. His knuckles were pale and stained with cuts and blood.
"You're hurt."
"Not as badly as you are."
Autumn's head started to pound and she craved for relief. "Do you have any Advil at your house?"
"I do."
"Could I have some when we get there please?"
"Yes beautiful."
Autumn watched as Devon pulled into his driveway. When the car was parked Autumn got out and stood looking up at the 2 Story house, hugging herself. Two arms came around behind her and squeezed her. Looking up at the 2 story house she felt small again. Autumn felt Devon guide her up the steps from behind and into the house. His house was so much nicer than her own. It looked like a family home, that's the best way to describe it.
