My dad ran in with a bat yelling, "What's wrong? What's wrong?"

He was wearing his green housecoat and his face looked like he was battle ready.
"Nothing." I said. "Just a bad dream." I began to sit up and squealed as pain flared in my hand. Hunter grabbed it and his face turned pale. A burn mark was seared into my palm in the shape of a oval and what looked like a snake wrapped around it.

Hunter dropped my hand grabbed my shoulders and looked me straight in the eye. "Get up. Pack as much as you can that you think worth taking. We won't be coming back for a while, no questions just do it. We're leaving in half an hour."

He ran out of the room.

I tried not to think about how confused I was. I got up and grabbed the two suitcases that I kept under my bed. Both with as many clothes as I could fit, a small blanket, my wallet, and a toothbrush. I was ready to pull the cases out to the car, but then I remembered something. I turned back to my bed and reached under the mattress. I pull out a thin box about two inches wide, half an inch thick, and a foot long. I slipped it into one of the bags and set out for the car.

I stuffed my suitcases in the trunk and ran back into my dad. He was just pulling his bags out of his rooms. His face was very pale. He looked at me and plainly said, "get in the car."

I didn't questioned him. I jumped into the front seat and in seconds Hunter got in the drivers seat and started the car up. He backed out of the driveway and went pedal to the medal.

For a about and hour we sat in silence. Final I blurted out. "Where are we going?"

It took him a while to answer. "I'm taking you to meet an old friend of mine."

"Where at?"

"Long Island, New York."

I looked at him to sea if he was joking. Nope. He was serious. Driving to New York without a reason was new for me. Even in my messed up life. I sat my head back, closed my eyes and listened to the country station. Soon enough, I fell asleep.
