I looked around the quiet, still library. Apart from dust which had accumulated on abandoned books over the years, nothing seems to have changed.

I closed my eyes, it had a peaceful yet daring feel to it.

Being back in Nosereph after 8 years was an overwhelming experience. My childhood memories regaining and lashing out uncontrollably.

From a young age, I was taught how to become a king fit to run this kingdom. The previous kings have lived on using their status and benevolence. In order to follow in their footsteps, I was taught to refrain showing expressions, contain my personal opinions, disregard my preferences, contain my desires and control my impulses. In other words i must be selfless and not selfish.

For example, when asked " What do you like to eat? or, "what are your hobbies?" I must reply, " I have no particular preferences".

As a King i cannot have a desire, i must like all.

To protect the harmony of this kingdom, I am expected to act as a living puppet, the same as the previous Kings before me.

Once I broke the trance of my memories overfilling, I decided to greet my father. As I approached the door of his room, i heard voices which seemed to be coming from his room.

I put my ear against the door hoping to hear their conversation. There was a low, bass voice which I could never be anyone other than my father. The other, i couldnt make out.

" Has the girl, Kayla, was it? Acculated feelings for Johnny, yet? You could say this was an important potion to the designated plan,"

" From the observations of the elders for the past 8 years, there should be nothing yo worry about. Everything seems to be going according to plan,"  Father replied.

" I didn't think you had to guts to decieve your own son with the she's the future to our realm mesh you made up,"

" It had to be done for his sake," Father said.

Lies? Is everything my father told me a lie?

" I sure do hope, your son, hasnt developed feelings for this girl. What a pity that she wont remember him at all when she awakens. She wont be her anymore," unknown person said then laughed.

Won't remember me? Wont be her anymore? Who exactly will she be?

The thought that the person who I had loved for years vanishing from my sight was one I did not wish to experience.

Is there anything to stop her forgetting me?

What seemed to be a lifetime of loving, could be taken away in a blink of an eye.

Impulsively i knocked on the door.

Lance opened the door and said, " Prince Joseph, what a surprise! What can I help you with".

" I wish to greet my father" i replied, pushing my way in and Lance left the room.

My father was seated in his leather chair which was not unusual. He had a black, leather book at his desk.

" Hello, father. I have come here as Kayla wanted some seperation for a few days but, dont worry I have ordered someone to watch her" i said walking toward his desk.

I cant tell him the real reason I have come.

"Is that all? If so, you may take your leave and go do whatever you like," he replied.

I looked at the book, it seemed familiar.

" You may go," he said as he took the book and put it in a drawer.

It was the book he always used to carry around during my childhood, he never seemed to leave it anywhere, it was always glued onto him.

What secrets does it hide?

I left the room thinking one thing.

Kayla, as my first love, I will protect you.

Even if it costs my life.
