12 years ago I know nothing but fun
No place to go but fields under the sun

12 years ago I laughed at my mistakes

Now a single smile, I can't even make!

10 years ago I know a bit 'bout pain

But there's always someone who can stop the rain

10 years ago I can still dry my tears

Now there's nothing I can do to ease my fears!

3 years ago I thought love was a fairytale

I didn't know I was wrong until the day I failed

3 years ago it was easy to mend my heart

But now this pain is tearing me apart!

Wish I could go back to those years in my life

Wish I could give up this crazy fight

I know I can no longer take back the words I said

That now I'm a grown up and the kid in me is dead!

"What in the Heavens?" my mom took in the site infront of her as I was bent over trying to catch my breath. Sweat was trickling down my face with strands of hair pasted to my skin onto my forehead from my now messy hair. I was a hot mess with a side of a frantically beating heart.

"I didn't think you would actually run here to beat the time besides what happened to the bus idea?." my mom sputtered out while pulling me inside the house towards a bench. I sat down without complaint as my body took in the coolness of the cold metal.

"Mom.." I started taking a deep breath getting much needed air, "the buses were full and so I had the idea of running." I lied, looking down at my watch that showed I was eleven minutes early. It would of had been impossible even if I had had the rode the bus half way but when I had watched Asher's eyes change to black, I ran faster than the energized bunny on steroids.

I felt my moms hand touch my forehead before she disappeared into the kitchen, coming out with a glass of ice water. "You are burning up honey. I need you to cool off and go freshen up before your father shows up. I have the kitchen set up so don't you worry about that." she gave me a quick hug as I downed the water, feeling it cool me from the inside.

Handing back the glass to my mother, I got up and walked upstairs to my old bedroom. Opening up to the same purple painted walls and shelves of endless books I had read so many times when I was in my younger days, I gave a small smile. "Home sweet home." I mumbled to myself sitting on my bed I had done without realizing it. I stayed put looking around noticing all the little things as memories flew past me.

Time goes by quickly without the knowledge of it. The only thing I had wanted was it to go by fast and it felt like ages when I was younger. Now that I was living on my own and had a small barista job and was majoring in culinary arts all at the same time, time flew without the slightest mercy.
