Sam's POV:(When he leaves from Nia's house)
I get back in my car and I notice in my rearview mirror Nia looking at the card. A couple seconds later she looks up wide-eyed. I really hope it was because she remembered me. It would be a heck lot easier not to go through and explain that her whole life, her career was and is for nothing. It am thinking about her until I get to the C.I.A. building. I park in my designated parking spot. I get out of my Lykan Hypersport and then I lock it. I jog into the actual building, I make my way to the elevator. I hit the '64' button for the 64th floor. It takes about 5 minutes with people coming in and out of this elevator. The doors eventually open and I walk to the Captain's office.
"Sir, I have made contact with Nia. She has made acquaintances with a couple people from Oceanview and they were with her. It was impossible to get any important information out of her."
He looks down at the folder we have put together on Nia and her background story. Even though I already know pretty much her story already. Yes, I know that it may sound stalkerish, but she was my best friend, and I have always looked after her. When she met friends, I met new friends. When she made enemies, I had those same enemies. I was always close to her, in some way.
I slowly make my way to my office, I open the doors and then I put my jacket on one of the empty chairs in here. I sit in 'my chair' and I turn my computer on look up 'Oceanview' in our records. That particular school had some really bad records. A couple are from teachers, drugs and alcohol, parties on school grounds and mixed ones too. I print them and go back to the Captain's room.
"Sir, look what I found." I hand him the records and he reads them over and over again.
"Okay, since you found them. You get to take care of them."
"What am I supposed to do?"
"Well you could either catalog them or you could open a case and go undercover."
I think about this for a moment. The last time I cataloged something it ended up a dead case, meaning no one could start from my 'horrible evidence'. Even though it was weapon used in a huge killing. I also think about going undercover, if Nia does remember me, she could blow my cover and vise-versa.
"I will go undercover. But what about my cover?"
"I will make one up, but just in case she remembers, you will have your real name." I nod and he turns to his computer, probably getting my cover ready. He stops typing for a second and turns to me.
"Play any sports?"
"Um...sir how is this relevant to the case."
"We can put it in your history, make the school want you more."
"Oh. Okay, well in that case. I play football and basketball."
"Are you any good?" He again stops typing to look at me.
"I won at least 30 trophies for each sport. Professional trophies."
He raises his eyebrows impressed.
"You should join the team." He smiled and then looked back at the computer and typed some more stuff in. While he leaves me to think about the C.I.A. football team. We play with all the agencies. The F.B.I, the Secret Service, and much more 'secret' organizations only the leaders know about, and when I say leaders I mean my boss' boss' boss' boss.
"Alright Sam, starting next week, you will be a student of Oceanview High." He hands me a list. A list that contains my school supplies, locker combination and schedule. Don't ask me how we can get info like that this quick. I have been 'here' for years and I still don't know how they do it. I thank the boss and make my way back to my office, I close the door and sit in my chair. I take a recent picture of Nia out and put it on my wall for 'ongoing cases' so far right now she is the only case I have open, so it looks kinda weird. The only reason I have this wall is because everyone and I mean EVERYONE in the C.I.A. had on one of the four walls that make up their office or cubicle. I start finding other materials and 'pin' them to the wall. I find pictures from when Nia still remembered me. I smile thinking at how we thought the world was ours, nothing could go wrong. I think of the quote Nia had in her bedroom before the incident.
'To the world you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world.'
We had no idea what that meant, but her 'mom' took us to the park. We played for hours, and then on the way home Nia fell asleep. I helped her mom take Nia to her bedroom. I stared at that quote while Nia got put in her bed. Her mom then came up to me and put her hand on my shoulder, she then bent down.
"You wanna know what that means?" She started looking up at the wall as well. I nodded my head. She took a deep breath.
"It means, to a friend you are just another person or friend, but to a special friend, they love you and they would be in trouble if something happened to them. You understand?" She asked me as if she just asked me a really hard question. I nod my head again.
"Then I guess Nia is my world."
Back then Nia's mom was trying to tell something so grown-up to such a small person, but now, today, I understand and what I said years ago, hasn't changed. Nia is still my world.
