Nia's POV:
It has been a month since Sam has been in the hospital. The gang and I have still been going to school together each day, but that is where we split. I go to the F.B.I. and they go to someone's house. Mostly mine. But so far, I found out that the only way someone could've made that shot was if they had military sniper training. I put a search out to find out who had that training and is in-country. So far, no one is back, and I am going mad. I didn't know what to do to help, I feel helpless, and I can't stand that feeling.Right now I am in my office, trying to get my mind off of Sam and think about my original case. So far I figured out that it is useless and tried telling that to the Captain, and he agreed with me and dropped the case. So now the only thing I am working on is Sam's case. I am looking at paperwork when there is a knock on my office door. I stand up and go open it. The gang is standing on Hello from the other side.
"Hey guys. What are you doing here?"
"We came to help."
"I don't know how you could. You guys aren't F.B.I." They all smile at me.
"What did you do?" I ask suspiciously. They smile even more and they hold up official F.B.I. badges.
"We are now!" They all scream at me.
"How?"
"We went to the Captain, whatever and he thought it was a good idea since we spend so much time together anyways."
"Coolio."
"We get to work with you like a squad" Theo says.
"OMG we are ultimate squad goals!" Ali screams.
"#Squadgoals!" Oliver yells over Ali. The gang starts laughing their heads off. I smile but it soon fades away.
"Nia? What's the matter?" Kalie walks over to me and pulls me into a hug.
"Sam." I can barely whisper.
"I know,I know it's hard. It has been for all of us." Kalie rubs my back and whispers into my ear, and just as she finishes, we all get a text. We check our phones to see what that noise was. Mine was from my uncle. He wanted me to come in. I looked up at the gang and they look at me. I think we have the same kind of text message. We head to the elevator. I am the last one to step in and we head up to the director's floor. The steel doors open up and I take the gang to Captain. Skylar opens the doors and then I let the gang go first. Captain looks down at his hands. He looks sad.
"What happened?" I walk up to him and look at him. He stayed quiet for a while and I started to get mad.
"What happened?" I raised my voice, I can tell the gang didn't expect that.
"Sam. He woke up." My uncle, the one family member I know, just told me the happiest news I had heard in a long time. I hugged him and then gave him a kiss on the cheek. I started walking toward the door, but just as I was to the elevators he came running out of his office.
"Nia, he might not remember you." Uncle talked in a low hushed voice. I try to ignore him and think on the positive side. I nod and instead of taking the elevator with my friends, I take the stairs. Once I get to the main floor, I see that the elevator is still at the 4th floor. I sprint out to my car, I just want to see if he remembers me. I make my way to the hospital and run up the stairs to his floor. I run to his room and see that he did wake up. I walk in and right as he saw me, he smiled. A genuine smile. I walk over to him.
"You remember me?"
"I couldn't forget you." I give him a hug and he gives me one back. "I have a question for you though."
"What's that?"
"Why am I here?"
