Sam's POV:

"Why is Skylar leaving?"

"He got a message on his phone saying that the army wants his science and tech skills."

"Did he tell Katelyn?" She looks at me with the saddest face. I am crushed.

"No. He isn't leaving until after graduation." 

"Nia. That's this year." I look at her with a serious look.

"I know. But, I can't tell her for him. That's his deal."

"Your right. Let's go back." I start the car and I turn on the radio, One Dance comes on and Nia starts singing. I just stay silent and listen to her sing. We get back to Kalie's house and we get out of the car." Nia runs up to the house and grabs the girls, they run back out to the car. Kalie drives away. I laugh as Nia looks at me and makes a funny face in the passenger window.

Nia's POV:
I text the girls as Sam and I are shopping.

N. You girls have your dresses?
A. For what?
N.P.R.O.M!
Ka.Thanks for reminding me.
K. Did Jensen not ask you yet?
Ka No.
A. He will...
N. Yes? No?
K. Ka. Kn. A. No!
N. Wanna go after we get back?
K. Ka. A. Kn. Yes!

I turn my phone off and start walking to the checkout. I notice the cashier making googly eyes and Sam. I roll my eyes and make sure I have the box tightly in my hands. Inside of the bag I put them in when I went through the self checkout. Sam questions the contents of the bag but I do my best to not tell him. We get to the car and before I see it coming he grabs the bag. My face drops. How am I gonna explain..
"Pregnancy Tests?" Sam looks at me in horror.
"Are these for?" I cut him off by saying.
"Katelyn. She felt funny the other day and I just needed to make sure, before..."
"Before what Nia?" I wait a few seconds. Then turns to Sam and give him a hug. I can barley breathe out the words
"Before Skylar goes away."

Time Laspe...
School starts in like 10 minutes and I drag Katelyn to the bathroom. I hand her the test and I wait for what feels like an eternity. She opens the stall door and just stands there. She couldn't be? Could she? She hands me the test and I am really scared to look at it. I look down and to my relief it says negative.
"Thank God." I give her a hug. I know she couldn't handle a kid when she finds out about Skylar. She needs to focus on her school work. The five minute bell rings and we go to class. 
The classes are only like 25 minutes long because of the delay. By the time lunch rolls around we are really excited for after school. We are going to Alix's house again to practice. We haven't really been able to do that from the missions we've had.
Just as we are about to sit down the most wonderful person walks in the room with a CHEERLEADER in his arms?! How could Sam do this to me?! I know this is a cover but that is low. He looks right towards us and that's when I loose it. I run out of the cafeteria and I hear the girls calling after me, but they don't follow me. Soon I hear footsteps, I don't even bother to turn around and I'm kinda glad I didn't. It's not who I expected it to be. Theo grabs my hand and pulls me into a hug.
"How could he do this to me?" I sob into his shirt.
"Nia. He isn't doing that for himself. He texted me saying he hates that chicks guts. He's only doing it so his cover isn't blown."
"He could be with anyone. Why her?" I ask disgusted.
"He thinks it'll be easier for people to think he is a normal person so he doesn't have to hide."
"Who is he hiding from?" I ask getting irritated.
"Nia. It's hard to explain." Theo looks at me with pity.
"Theo. Please. Who is he hiding from?" I look at him in the eyes. I'm not mad anymore. I just need to know.
"Nia. He's hiding from you." He looks like he is about to cry.
"Why from me?" I feel tears coming to my eyes.
"He is afraid if he let's people into his life something bad will happen and then loose everyone or have everyone loose him. He wants to minimize the casualties ad much as possible." The turns around and look at who is coming. The guy who we were jusy talking about. I turn and walk the other way. Sam jogs up to me and takes me by the hand.
"Nia wait." He pleads.
"Why?! You trying to minimize the casualties by not letting people in and hiding? You know what Sam?! It doesn't turn out well. I tried. You need people in your life. Whether you like it or not." He stays quiet. I calm down from my yelling to a whipser. "What happened to the Sam I knew? What happened to the one who didn't care about other people thought of him. I thought we had something."
"We do Nia."
"Apparently not Sam. You just had some blonde piece of trash in your arms."
"And I hated every moment of it." He grabs my arm and pulls me for a hug.
"Just promise me." I start tearing up again.
"What?"
"Promise me you won't shut your friends. Don't hide."  look up ay him. Tears in both of our eyes.
"Nia. It's just easier that way."
"Yea, but it's also really lonely." I stand up on my tippy toes and he gets the memo and bends down so we meet about halfway. We kiss until the bell rings. Which was like 30 seconds
"I gotta go." He says to me while holding my hand cause no one is in the hallway yet.
"Okay. Love you."
"Love you." He smiles and walks away. Leaving me standing in the hallway.
The rest of the day all I could think of was that kiss. That was my second first kiss. My first, first kiss was when I was like 6 so that doesn't count. Or does it because it's the same guy? Oh well, no one gives a crap. I look at the bell and see that there is 10 SECONDS LEFT?! Where did the day go? I pack my stuff up and I walk out to the door and to my car. I see a couple girls standing by my car. One of them being the Cheerleader from earlier.
"Is this the girl who stole Sam from you?" One of them asks
"Sure is and now you are gonna pay." They walk up to me with 2 dozen eggs and a can of cool whip. I start to back away but then more people come up behind me and start pushing me toward the eggs and the cool whip. I trip over someone's shoe and before I know it I have raw egg in my hair running down my face. I roll over so I am on my side. Then I feel a sharp pain in my stomach. Someone just kicked me. I'm judging by how hard the kick was I'm guessing it was a athletic dude. Heavy build. I start crying. It's not like I can start fighting these guys. After about 10 minutes of torture I hear my name. Sam runs up to me and helps me to my car. He puts me in the passenger seat and he drives. We go to Alix's house. Her mom is a nurse and had the day off. So I go to her instead of the hospital. Everyone is in the room, which I don't mind. I like the company of my friends. She has me take my shirt off which is really hard to do. She ends up helping me. I look at myself in the mirror. My whole abdomin is bruised purple and green. The girls gasp and the guys stare in awe.
"You don't have any broken ribs, but they are bruised. I suggest resting for a day or two before really moving." Alix's mom tells me in her smoothing voice.
"Okay. Thank you, so much."
"Anytime...well, almost." We all smile and I give her a really pathetic hug. We go into Alix's room to watch a movie. We aren't gonna practice for a whole. We are proabaly dropping out of Battle of the Bands. Life had just been too busy.
We pick out a movie and all I can remember is me laying on Sam and Fat Amy mermiad dancing. Then the world going black
