The flight was abnormally long, but by no means was it boring. Lindo rambled on for hours before he eventually fell asleep. I enjoyed flying, but I think it was Lindo presence that made me happy. Finally we were landing, Lindo stirred from his sleep, bleary eyes looking around.
"We're landing" I said, the words sounding abnormal to me. It was a weird word, landing, a devil had no need for such a word except when they recovered from a jump. He smiled half heartedly as he slowly woke up. All around adult humans were stirring and becoming restless. My stomach was clenching from hunger, something I was putting off. So many souls in one place. One malfunction and I could claim them all. I shook my head at the thought, no I couldn't think like that. I wrapped my arms around my stomach trying to control my urges. I was starving, and my frail form was evidence of that, even for a child I was small.
"Are you hungry?" Lindo asked. I looked next to me. He was staring at me, big blue eyes observing everything. I nodded hesitantly. He smiled as he leaned forward, struggling to lift his small satchel from underneath the chair in front. He was having difficulty reaching it. Before I even could consider the repercussions, I gave it a small mental push allowing magic to push it that inch forward. Lindo didn't notice as he grabbed the satchel and sat upright. He opened it and rummaged through it. He stopped as he pulled out a plastic rectangle. Inside was a sandwich, a food humans ate regularly. I had avoided human food my entire life, but it seemed it was inevitable that I would eat it. He opened the plastic casing and held out the sandwich to me, eyes expectant as he smiled. I tried to smile back but my nerves were running wild. I had to eat the food, otherwise he would get upset. Reaching out I took the food and looked at it, it was soft an there was some sort of vegetable and meat filling. I glanced at Lindo who was watching me. Pulling myself together I bit into the sandwich. I was a devil for heavens sake, a sandwich was nothing. The food was in my mouth, at first I tasted nothing, then it hit. I nearly gagged from the taste but managed to act normal. It was disgusting, human food, I wasn't used to their for of sustenance. I looked at Lindo and saw him looking at me still with expectant eyes; I swallowed the disgusting portion of food.
"It's delicious. Thank You" I said, smiling. The food was awful, but at least it would satisfy my cravings. Food was food, even if it didn't nourish me quite as much it still did the job. I quickly ate the rest, swallowing as quickly as possible so the food didn't sit on my tastebuds too long.
"Wow, you must have been really hungry" he says, as I take the last bite. I smile, nodding my head. Lucifer help me, that was horrible. Before anything else could be said, the plane touched ground causing the plane to bounce. I laughed at the experience, this was way more fun than teleporting. When we got off the plane, Lindo looked around expectantly. It was difficult for us to see far, especially since we were kids in the middle of a horde of adults.
"There they are" Lindo says. I look where he's pointing and see a women holding the hand of a little girl, maybe a year or two younger than Lindo. Lindo runs over to them, leaving me to stand back and watch; the little girl runs to Lindo as soon as she sees him, and is engulfed in a hug as soon as she reaches him. I watch in interest, siblings have always been an oddity to me, never having any I found the trust between them amazing. Lindo let go off the hug and looked back at me, I stared back. He waved his hand, indicating for me to come over. I walked towards them, looking at the two new faces.
"This is Lily, she's from England" Lindo told his sister. She stared at me with wide eyes. She was really cute, in the way most little kids are when they're curious.
"What's she doing here, Lindo" The mother said
"She was on her own, so I said I would help her" he replied. His mothers eyes fell on me, a look of pity playing in her eyes.
"You poor child" she said. Suddenly she bent down and hugged me. I stood frozen in confusion, unsure how to react.
"You don't need to worry. We'll help you" She said again. She stood up and grabbed my hand along with Lindo's who was also holding onto his little sister.
"Come on, let's go home" she said.Lindo's family had a nice house, it was everything my home wasn't; warm, cozy, personal, it was what a normal family would live in. Ritsuka, Lindo's little sister, was very cute and seemed quite curious about me.
"How did you meet Lindo" Ritsuka asked, her wide eyes staring at me. We were in the living room sitting on the sofa. Lindo was reading a book whilst Ritsuka fired questions at me.
"We met at a fountain in London. Lindo introduced himself first" I said. I looked at Ritsuka and felt a weird feeling, shook my head trying to shake off the feeling. That sandwich must have affected my senses. As Ritsuka talked away, her mother walked in.
"Alright you three, time for bed. I have a manuscript to translate so let's get you three into bed." She said. I stared blankly. I didn't think I was sleeping here.
"I'm staying here?" I ask. The three of them looked at me, Lindo's mother laughed.
"Of course. We have a spare so you're staying right here with us."
