The hood was ripped off, leaving me to stare at them with wide, clear eyes. Rem stepped back, analysing my face.
"You know this girl, Rem" The blond asked, his voice questioning. He clearly wasn't expecting a girl.
Rem seemed shocked, an uncommon expression for his face. I shoved against the blond one's arm, my attempts doing little. I was starting to feel light headed."Hello Lilth" Rem replied. I sighed as the arm blocking my arm loosened, allowing me a small breath.
"Arlond, it's been a while" I joked, my voice weak as I tried to get more air. No, point in lying now, all cards were on the table.
"I thought you were dead" he stated. His face slowly returned to that unreadable expression he always wore.
"Well, I'm not" I stated. Looking to the blond I directed my attention to him. "Let go of me already. No point in running now" I told him. He held his position, glancing at Rem.
"It's alright Mage" Rem ordered. I was released instantly, the pressure on me being let off as the blond stepped back. I slowly got to my feet, my legs shaking for a second.
"Little Arlond finally grew up" I joked. He didn't laugh but I saw the blond smirk.
"How are you alive?" He ordered. Seemed he was under the impression, I was one of his minions.
"Simple, I never died. Don't know what bullshit story you've been told but I'm alive" I state. I inspected my shoulder, seeing the wound already healing. I wonder why he thought I was supposed to be dead?
"You were kidnapped years ago, and apparently the kidnappers sent back your body in a box. You had a funeral" Rem argued.
"Hold on, your that girl, the one who was the old kings kid." The blond, now known as Mage stated. I sighed, irritated at how this was turning out.
"Listen I didn't come here for a reunion, I'm here to tell you to stay away from Ritsuka. So this" I said gesturing around at the crumbled walls "is a warning". I emphasised, Jesus Christ I needed to get out of here so they couldn't take me back to that god forsaken realm. They stared, seeming somewhat unsure of my statement. Before I could continue, a groan drew our attention the fallen angel was stirring. He sat up his eyes groggy but a ridiculous smile on his face.
"That was beautiful, such pain was exquisite" He beamed. I stared for a second, but decided it better to ignore the out of whack Angel.
"Do we understand each other. Starting from now if I find a single one of your lackeys near Ritsuka we're going to have a problem" I growled. Rem looked to me, before he sighed, his eyes showing exasperation.
"I'm afraid that's already a problem. Firstly it is our job to find the forbidden grimoire, and Ritsuka is relevant to that pursuit" He stated.
"And the other problem, because that's not a good enough reason for me"
"We can't follow that request because Urie is playing the field and is probably with her right now" Mage continued, his arms folded over his chest. Instantly rage filled my body.
"Where are they? I swear if he has harmed her I will break every bone in his body" seethed. Summoning my sword the sharp metal glinted as I gripped it tightly.
"Easy, put that thing away, we don't know where he is. This wasn't planned" the blond replied. Allowing the sword to disappear I sighed, I wasn't going to help Ritsuka by going on a slashing spree. Pulling out my phone I dialed Lindo's number. He picked up on the second ring."What's wrong" His voice answered.
"We have a problem. I don't think Ritsuka's at home anymore" I exclaimed. The three devils were grouped together watching me. I stared at them, making sure they didn't try anything.
"I'm on my way. Any idea where she is?" he said, he sounded frantic.
"Probably on the school grounds somewhere. She's with one of the devils" I growled, the three seemed irritated by my tone but I ignored them.
"I'll start looking. Call me when you get here" I ordered. Turning the phone off, I sighed. Why couldn't she stay inside. I started walking towards the door, I prepared myself to turn this school upside down in order to find her.
"Where do you think you're going?" Rem ordered. It was annoying he just assumed since I was a devil I would follow his orders.
"To save my friend from the likes of you" I growled pulling the door open. I glanced over my shoulder to see him staring.
"Don't think just because we're from the same past, that it means I'll follow you. We're nothing alike" I stated. Going through the door I let it slam shut behind me, once again I left the world of the devils.
I walked through the school looking for any sign of Ritsuka. Her scent had to be somewhere.
"Wait" a now familiar voice called. I turned to see Rem walking towards me, his presence filling the hall. I scowled at him, I didn't want to see him right now; I needed to focus on finding Ritsuka.
"Unless your going to help me find Ritsuka I suggest you leave" I growled. He stopped in front of me, his hard eyes unwavering.
"I want answers" he stated. As always he was straight to the point, a real hard ass in my opinion.
"Listen, I've got better things to do than satisfy your curiosity. So unless you want to strike a deal, I'm not interested" I stated. Turning around I continued my search. I was worried about Ritsuka, and Rem was trying to distract me from that.
"Fine, I'll help you stop Urie, and in exchange you'll agree to talk to me" he replied. I froze, was he being serious. As a kid, he never considered negotiations. I eyed him, sceptical of what he was saying.
"You swear on it by the seven sins" I said. It was strange using demon terms, after not uttering them for years.
"I agree upon the seven sins. I will help you find Ritsuka, and in exchange you will answer my questions" he nodded. I sighed, this was the best option I had at the moment.
"Fine" Walking up to him, I grasped his hand. A jolt of magic cracked through the contact, sealing the agreement. I didn't like getting his help, but Ritsuka was more important than my comfort. He smirked, obviously happy that I was agreeing to his terms.
"So where would they be" I asked, referring to Ritsuka and this Urie. What sort of devil was he? Was Ritsuka going to be safe?
"They'll be in Urie's favourite grounds. We should hurry" He stated, he started to apparat and I followed. Following his apparition, we eventually appeared in what seemed to be an indoor garden. Rem didn't waste a moment in heading along a dark path. I followed, my senses in over drive searching for any threats. I was picking up a lot of scents, one of which being Ritsuka's. I could also smell another devil, he smelled familiar. Had I met him in my younger years?
Finally we saw what seemed to be a carnival up ahead, bright lights and colours shattered the dark silence of the garden. I saw a group of girls running around, even from this distance I could tell they were being controlled.
"They'll be around here somewhere" Rem murmurs. I nod, sniffing the air I try to lock on to Ritsuka's smell, that doesn't work well; seems Ritsuka has been running around everywhere. Focusing on the other demon instead I pick his scent out easy.
"Follow me" I whisper. Creeping out from the shadows of the bushes, I move among the Carnival setting. Moving silently and sticking out of sight. Rem follows, clearly fine with me taking the reins. Following my nose, the scent grows stronger. Finally the person we were searching for came into view. He was with Ritsuka, the two hidden behind the carousel. I could see he was putting her in a trance. My blood burned at seeing that happen.
"Bastard" I growled. Rem realised what I was about to do and tried to grab me, but it was too late. I launched myself forward and did the only thing I could think of, I tackled the damn devil. I crashed into the unsuspecting devil with enough force to crush a human. We landed on the paved ground, the force sending crushed pavement everywhere as I pummelled Urie. When my momentum ran out I jumped back, making sure he couldn't immediately strike back.
"Lilth, stop this instant" Rem barked. I ignored his command as the devil called Urie began to get to his feet. He had light orange hair and looked surprised by Rems presence. He seemed dazed.
Looking at Ritsuka I saw she was beginning to snap out of her daze. Rem moved forward and approached Urie, it was clear he had this under control. Turning to Ritsuka, I checked her for any injuries; she was fine, luckily.
"You take her out of here. I need to have a word with Urie" Rem stated. I picked her up and supported her against my shoulder. I nodded to Rem.
"I'll keep my promise, but for now I've got things to do" I stated. Slowly Ritsuka came to as I helped her out of the garden maze.
"Lily" she murmured, as we arrived outside the school.
"It's okay Ritsuka. Lindo's on his way" I replied. At that moment I spotted Lindo, he rounded a building and sprinted towards us. It was a relief to see him, his familiar blue eyes and blood red hair where a sight I was happy to see.
"Are you okay?" Lindo questioned as he stopped in front of us. Ritsuka was able to stand herself upright and stared at Lindo. She glanced back to the place we had came from, she obviously was a bit freaked out.
"We can do this all back home. Right now, let's just get out of here" I ordered, pushing the two towards the exit. I didn't want to stay here for a second more, even with Lindo here.
