LEVI

"You stay away! I don't want that!"
I point threateningly at the strange man who tries to corner me. My eyes whip around the tent frantically, I can't see another way out.
I heard the crash, and the commotion that led to my coming around. I saw the broken lamp on the ground and the empty cot bed beside mine. It just took me forever to move...I felt drugged, I knew I was drugged!
For what felt like an age I lay on that bed and listened to the sounds of a camp, my mind working back over everything at supersonic speed. I lay long enough for hysteria to set in again...had went mad...crazy like my mother? Maybe everything I was seeing was my fragmented brain making sense of a mental breakdown, but rationally speaking, if I really was insane wouldn't I think I was fine? This didn't help my anxiety.
Eventually that man - that is now trying corral me like a wild horse - came to check on me. But I had got used to my limbs again, and I sneaked a shard of glass off the floor from the shattered lamp and scrambled back onto the bed again before anyone came back for me.
They wouldn't be knocking me out this time!
I had lunged at him when he put his hands on me, and I thought I'd got him but he moved so fast that I wasn't even certain he'd moved at all. One moment his hand was on me, the next he was a foot away from my bed staring at me in complete astonishment. He held a cup of something in his hands, and I knew I was supposed to drink it...more drugs...I don't think so!
"Miss, you must not move like that...your ribs...no one means you any harm." The beautiful man with teak coloured hair, all long and strange like the rest of these aliens, patiently tries to pacify me.
"Go away!" I roar again and lift the bed, tipping it on its side so it makes a barricade between he and I. "Where is the girl...you took the girl!" I scream again, tears erupting from my eyes in a bizarre show of emotion. "You promised not to take the girl!"
"Child, will you please calm-"
"TO HELL I WILL!" I roar and lift the small table by the upturned bed, ready to throw, "You sick bast-""Put that down or I will be forced to restrain you!"
The hard voice is different, it sends a thrill up my spine as I snap my head to the side to glare at the familiar intruder. His long sleek hair falling about him like swathes of black ink, his beautiful face expressionless and cold...of all my captors I hate him the most.
"You!" I snarl viciously, surprising even myself at my unbridled rage. "You did something to me, you arrogant tyrant...where is the girl?"
"You will show more respect!" He hisses back and strides toward me, anger lighting those cold eyes of his. I should be more afraid but somehow I don't care anymore, death seems better than being slaves to these soulless creatures.
"Respect?" I give a hard laugh and back away from him. "The same respect you showed me when you rendered me unconscious, the same respect you showed the girl when you took her...she isn't yours to take...and neither am I!"
With those words I strike at him, because he is too close, the shard of glass in my hand catching the hem of his sleeve before he dodges it. His hand clamps on my wrist causing enough pressure so I drop the glass, all covered in my own blood, where I held it too tight. In the next instant he twists my arm back and a pain like shooting knives runs down my arm and across my side.
I yowl in agony as I slip to the ground, my very breath leaving me as I wilt into myself from the awful pain.
"I saved your life little girl," he tells me bitterly, as I struggle away from him, hunching myself up against the far wall of the tent. All thoughts of bravery have vanished, the pain is frightening, and my mind is scattered...I don't have the energy to fight...maybe the girl didn't either. I'd never win against him anyway, he'd break me in two with ease...monsters.
