"Everyone will hurt you. You just need to find that special someone who knows how to apologize and make it up to you when they have hurt you."

"Lacey, I am so over him! He broke his promise and I'm a strong woman who doesn't need a liar in my life!" I exclaim over the phone. "Wait, I'm gonna put you on speaker. I want to braid my hair before I shower."

"Ew, why are you talking to me before you shower?" Lacey questions, mock disgust evident in her tone.

"At least I'm not in the shower yet!" I retort, placing the phone onto the sink counter.

I grab the hair tie sitting on top of my pajamas and stretch it onto my right wrist. I gather my hair at the crown of my head and start separating it into three sections for the french braid. I hate it when I'm showering and my hair suddenly gets wet or starts sticking onto the front of my hair.

"Okay, anyways, I think you're right. You should ignore him for a while tomorrow at work and then he'll be confused and begging for mercy because he misses talking and flirting with you so much!"

It was safe to conclude that Lacey is a hopeless romantic. She dives head first into a love story almost every day on Wattpad and finishes with tears when the protagonists end up together in the end. She would be the first to attend a new screening of a romance movie and all she watches are comedy and romance genre TV shows.

"Yeah right, like he'll notice," I retort sarcastically. "He'll be just another clueless guy. He'll probably just think I'm on my period and moody."

"Just try it for a few hours when he comes in to work tomorrow then. Come on! Aren't you anxious for the power you'll have over him if you don't talk to him and pretend like he doesn't exist? He'll be on his knees begging for you to at least say 'hello' to him," Lacey persists.

"Fine, but if anything goes wrong, I'm going to blame it all on you."

The next day at work, my heart was beating like it was high on drugs. The quickening of the heartbeats only made me even more anxious when I looked at the clock staring back at me.

11:50 P.M. Ten more minutes before Sean has to clock in for work and here I am, sent to the back kitchen area to clean up pans used to chop up the steak. I groan mentally before smiling back at Kenneth.

"How's Johnny doing? It seems you're destined to work here," Kenneth jokes. "It hasn't even been two months and you're already a professional at Great Wraps. You pick things up quickly!"

"Thank you," I say humbly. "I think it's because I've had food service experience before, so I'm definitely able to get used to the flow of this place quickly. Plus, you and Sean are amazing teachers. I've learned so much since I've started working here."

Before Kenneth could reply, Michael's voice drifted over from the front line.

"Uh, sir? There's the afternoon lunch rush starting soon. We need some help in the front line if you have time, sir."

"Okay, I'll take over washing these pans. You go and help out in the front line with Taylor and Michael, Elena."

I nod after thanking him for helping me clean the pans and rush to tie my apron tighter before heading out to the hot station. Suddenly, as I'm grabbing a tortilla from the bag, I see Sean walk up to the cash register to clock in. I quickly stare back at the customer waiting in front of me and give the nod signal for her to start ordering.

"Hello, I'd like to have the Gyro Wrap and a Santa Fe Wrap without any bacon please."

"Sure thing, ma'am. Would you like any fries with that? Combo?" I ask politely.
