Happy New Year my loves!
--Tae's POV--
School...
What a drag, I though as I stared out the window, zoning out as the teacher lectures about some mish mash I don't care about. I just sit and stare, recalling the events of the past week.
It's been a week... A week since the truth or dare, the night I asked Jin to talk about his past.
Nothing actually happened that night... He just kept quiet after thanking me for being so kind, and we went to bed. He hasn't talked about his past since, and we both haven't really brought up the subject.
I guess it's for the best though... If he doesn't want to talk about it then I shouldn't push him.
I turn my gaze to my side and glance at Jin, who is looking down at his notes.
But he isn't the same at school... Something changes when he is at school. And when I asked him if something was wrong at school, he just said he was 'a little stressed because he isn't used to it yet'.
I don't know if I believe that though. And on top of that sometimes he will disappear for a while at school, not long but enough to be a bit worrying. And he just comes up with some excuse, that I don't know if I believe are true...
I sigh and look back outside.
I think somethings up.
--------------------
The bell rings and school is over. We pack up and walk home, ready for the weekend.
"I'm going to go take a shower, okay?" SeokJin says as we walk through the apartment door, dropping our backpacks on the ground. "Okay," I reply and head towards the kitchen. "I'll make us some food in the meantime."
He nods and walks into the bathroom after grabbing some clothes from the bedroom. I search the refrigerator as I hear the water turn on in the bathroom.
After about ten minutes, I have finished with the food and remember that I had foolishly left my phone in the bathroom this morning. I was not too surprised that I hadn't noticed sooner, as I am not one of those people who use their phone too often.
I hear the water turn off and start to make my way towards the bathroom, knocking on the door. "Hey I just left my phone in there I'll be super quick," and open the door, only to see a wet, shirtless Jin, looking at me blankly.
My eyes shift towards where my phone was as I mutter a small 'sorry', avoiding the sight of his gorgeous body. Woah, hold up there Tae. He is your friend, you shouldn't say that.
I gulp and go to turn and leave, but not before something catches my eye and I have to look again. His arms. He moves them to the side, as if trying to be subtle about hiding what I think I just saw.
"Stop, let me see," I say softly but slightly demanding, reaching for his arm and looking at his lowered face. He keeps his head low, trying to hide his face in his bangs and shakes his head, pulling away.
"SeokJin. Let me see your arm." I say a bit more demanding and stern. I knew something was up.
He keeps his head away, avoiding me from seeing his face but lowers his arm slightly, and I take it in my hand.
My heart race quickens and my breath becomes shaky as it was what I feared. Cuts. Dozens of cuts. All of which looked self inflicted.
"Jin..." He doesn't reply, and continues to look away. "SeokJin... Why would you do this?" Silence.
I take his hand in mine and turn, pulling him with me to the bedroom and sitting him down next to me on the bed.
I stare at the wall in front of me, somewhat angry, and very worried for my friend. "Why?! Just why would you do that to yourself?" I say, my tone a bit harsher than before, causing him to flinch as he looks at the floor.
I grab his arm and turn him to face me. "Why wouldn't you tell me?!" He flinches again and turns his head away.
"I....I-I don-t know" he replies in almost a whisper, with shaky voice.
And then...
He starts crying. I don't know what to do, so I sit there for a few seconds, taking in everything that happened as those cries turned into sobs.
How could I have let this happen?
I hug him, cradling him in my arms as he turns towards my chest, clutching my shirt and sobbing into me.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry you had to go through this alone." I say, stroking his hair as he starts to quiet down, crying silently now.
"But you won't have to anymore. I'm here for you. Just promise me you won't do it anymore." He stops crying and nods slightly into my chest.
I will protect him... Because he is my friend... But I don't know if I can continue to lie to myself anymore.
Because I think I like him more than a friend- not like, love.
I love him.
And I won't let this go on any longer.
"Let's go to sleep" I say, and he nods into my chest again. We both move under the covers of the bed and I quickly turn the light off, returning to Jin's side. And I hold him, just like when he was crying. And he lets me, so I watch him fall asleep.
"I love you, Jin..."
