Chapter One:
Paige's POV:
I can't believe this is happening to me. I swear i had done everything in my power to prevent this from happening. But it just wasn't enough. I whipped out my phone and frantically dialed what I thought was my father's number.
Surprisingly it was answered on the first ring.
I didn't wait for an answer before I started pleading for my father's mercy. begging.
"Dad, it's me, Paige. I am so sorry! I know I'm supposed to be home at 4:25 but I'm running late. Please don't be mad! I swear I didn't tell anyone what was going on! Please forgive me! I'm almost home now, please don't hurt me!" I was in tears. "Dad, I'm so sorry...."
Before I could finish I was rudely cut off by the person on the other line.
"Who in the bloody hell is this? Is this some kind of joke? Huh? A "Daddy Direction" girl gone wild?"
The voice on the other line was filled with so much venom that the shock almost didn't register. I wasn't talking to my father. And whoever was on the other end of my call was mad.
"Uhm....uhm...." I was at a loss for words. I mean, how am I supposed to explain to this rather outraged man that I had just accidentally dialed the wrong number because I was so out of my mind with fear that when I get home my dad was going to kill me....literally. I guess I couldn't. And he seemed to know that because yet again, he cut me off.
"Who are you and how did you get my number?" The voice asked rather coldly.
I took a deep breath.
"My name's Paige....and I'm so sorry, sir. I was trying to call my father and I was in a hurry and I dialed the wrong number. I'm sorry I've upset you. It was an accident, I swear. I won't bother you any longer, I'll go...."
"Like bloody hell you will!" He raged before I could hang up.
What's his problem? No offense or anything but I apologized and it was an accident. I've never given anyone this much trouble about a wrong number. It wasn't like I was even a prank caller or anything. This had been just a genuine mistake all the way around. And I told him that.
He seemed to be speechless.
Until I went to speak again.
"Look, I really have to go. My dad's...."
"Paige, I'm sorry. I made a mistake with how I spoke to you. Could you do me a favor?" He cut me off....AGAIN. What is with him?!
And biolar much?
"What kind of favor?" I ask suspiciously. I had more than one reason to be weary of men; and their favors.
"Could you text me when you get home and let me know you're okay?"
What. the. bloody. hell.
"Excuse me?" I heard a rough voice ask, apparently he was just as appalled as I was.
"Are you kidding me?" I ask.
"What the....?" He started to protest, but I cut him off this time. Yah, take that!
"No, you listen here! I called your number accidentally! I tried to explain that to you and you just kept biting my head off instead of just being a normal person and hanging up! And you expect me to just text you when I get home so you know I'll be okay? Well let me just fill you in now, mister! I'm wasting precious minutes of my time right now trying to set you straight when I should be marathon level speed running home because I was supposed to be home at 4:25 exactly. Now I don't have time for your childish antics right now because right at this very minute my father is getting madder and madder by the minute and the longer I take to get home the worse it's going to be. So no, I'm not going to be okay. I have to go. Goodbye."
Whoa. I can not believe I just said all of that. I hope he doesn't read too much into that. I really hope he doesn't....
"NO! Please! I'm sorry!"
What?! I guess I forgot to disconnect the way, way to go,, Paige. Yah, I often refer to myself in the third person sense.
"Please, just let me go! This whole conversation is bizarre. I don't even know your name."
"My name?" he asked, sounding puzzled.
"Yah."
"You don't know it?" he asked, even more confused.
"How on earth would I know your name? You haven't said it and as far as I know I'm not a mind reader. But maybe if we both try really hard I'll pick up on something...." I trail off.
He chuckled.
"So....?" I ask.
"So what?"
Gosh, what a dumbass!
"How about that name?" I prompted.
"It's Liam.....Liam Payne." He said hesitantly. What was that about?
But I have to admit, the name did suit him, though I would have added a little soemthing to it. Like Liam Payne-in-the-ass. Just saying.
And apparently I did say it because if I thought he was laughing before now I guess he's dying or doing a horrible impersonation of a mentally impaired seal.
"I do not sound like a mentally impaired seal! Dying or otherwise!" he protested.
I really need to stop think out loud. This is starting to get ridiculous.
"Yah, it really is." He laughed.
"Whatever. Goodbye, Liam." This time I did hang up.
I quicked my pace until I was running so fast I thought my heart was going to pump right out of my chest.
That was, until I reached the gates of hell. My home. Wel not mine, and not home either. My father's house.
Liam's POV:
"Dad, it's me, Paige...."
From the minute I heard that unfamilar voice on the other line of the phone I knew there was something off with her. Not in a she's a "daddy directioner" gone mad or anything but in a she has some serious problems in her life way. And it sounds like these problems involve her home life with her father. I regret the way I lashed out at her and being true to the "daddy direction" image that I've earned myseld I couldn't let her go without her promising to let me know that she was okay later. I even told her who I was.
But she didn't even know who I was. I don't think she even knows about One Direction. Now I'm vain or superficial like Zayn or "DJ Malik" when it comes to his mirrors, and I'm definitely not saying that she has to be a directioner or anything, but I just can't belive that she's never even heard of us. But whatever, apparently she hasn't and that's a problem for another time.
What I'm concerned with right now is she told me she wouldn't be okay. And that she was not going to inform me of her condition later. Why wouldn't she? Most girls would kill to be in her place right now and she was acting like it was just killing her to be on the line with me. I understand that she might get in trouble for being late and all but doesn't talking to me give her the perfect excuse? Could she not be the typical girl and lie to her father?
Something is definitely going on with Paige, and I am going to find out what it is. Even if I have to be the first one to initiate contact. Yes, Mission Paige is a go, Daddy Direction is standing by and is in position. I repeat, Mission Paige is a go and Daddy Direction is standing by and is in position....
