"I'm not a mage... I can't be a mage... I hate mages!" Gareth grumbled as he and Timothy wandered down the dirt road, heading towards what looked to be a town in the distance.
"Get over it, Gareth! Mages are cool!" Timothy assured his friend, "They can absolutely pulverize the enemy with all sorts of spells like fire and ice, and even heal their party sometimes!"
"But we're not having a party..."
"No, not that kind of party, doofus! A player's party is the team they travel with! Have you ever even actually played an RPG ever in your life?" Timothy sighed, exasperated. Gareth seemed to know nothing about the genre and, to say they had been mysteriously sucked into one, things were not looking good.
"No, I- Wait! What was that?" Gareth asked, stopping suddenly.
"What was what?" Timothy replied, looking at the clump of long grass Gareth was staring at. The grass was rustling and a sound similar to giggling could be heard.
Realising it had been discovered, a small creature came waddling out of the overgrowth and approached the two boys. Timothy bent to greet the little beast, but Gareth just stood staring in disbelief.
The creature was walking on all fours, approximately the size of a small terrier. It had a dog-like image about it, with huge ears and a bushy tail. It was mostly white, but odd parts of it were black, including a patch around its right eye.
As it reached the friends, the creature rocked back and sat up, examining Gareth and Timothy.
"Chibu think you talk funny! What you do? You go town?" the mini monster asked, in a disordered English.
"Yeah, we're heading that way," Timothy answered, "I'm Tim-"
"Timmy! Why are you talking to it?" Gareth shouted, worried that the creature may not be as friendly as it seemed.
"Timtimmy, who friend? He mean..."
"Huh? Oh, that's Gareth... He can be a bit of a moody-pants!" Timothy laughed.
"Me Chibu! Chibu like Timtimmy! Timtimmy have Chibu Bar?"
"What's that? Food?"
"Yeah, yeah! Chibu Bars many yummies and make tummy grumblings go bye-byes!" Chibu grinned.
"No, we don't have any of those. We just got here..." Gareth told Chibu, stepping closer but still keeping his distance. This was all too much for him to take in; not only was he inside an RPG, a game genre he'd never liked, but the simple fact that he was inside a game was beyond belief. He put it down to too many brownies before bed and too little sleep. Hallucinating? Dreaming? Definitely. Inside a game? No way... It just isn't possible!
Is it?

And what game would YOU like to be sucked into? Mines Final Fantasy, no questions! Riding Chocobos... Cuddly little Moogles... Casting spells, sword fights, and summoning big beasties... *sigh* If only...
