Zayn

I didn't know when I woke up today that I would end up kissing Lauren by the end of the night.

I had about five minutes before work let out. I was staring up at the clock on the wall. "Not breaking your concentration, I see," my coworker Louis said. I didn't pay any mind to him. I continued my clock gazing. "So, what are you getting yourself into on this Friday night that is open to all the wild possibilities?" he asked. I shrugged, finally pulling myself from the daze.

"Anything. I'm just glad I don't work weekends."

"I betcha. I'm going to a rave. You should come. Bring that cute girl you're always going on about." I shook my head at Louis' offer. He threw his arm up. "Oh, c'mon. Don't you live a little?"

"I do, but I don't want to get myself into mischief tonight." I glanced back up at the clock. There was only a minute left of work. I made my way over to clock out. "Suit yourself. I'm going to hook up with loads of babes."

"Just that sentence alone tells me it's not going to happen," I laughed swiping my timecard. Louis made a face as he swiped his.

"Don't act like you weren't a lady chaser before you settled down with this Leah girl."

"Her names Lauren, and I'm not settled down with her. We aren't dating." I walked out front toward my car.

"But you want to be. That's the face of a man that wants someone badly if I've ever seen it before."

I unlocked my car and pulled the door open. "See you Monday," I said closing the door.

It was around six when I got home. I glanced over at Lauren's house. She was home. Her white nissan was parked out front. She got it a couple weeks back. I had to teach her how to drive it. She was a little confused having to drive on the other side and all. She was nearly a professional now. When I got inside, the scent of food danced in my nose. I walked over to the dining room. My whole family was sitting around at the table. "Hey guys," I said. I joined in a chair beside Safaa. My dad looked up from his phone and nodded at me. Lately my dad's been very into technology. Says they were pushing it as a strong suit at the business meeting he went to for two weeks.

I rubbed my hands together. "So, what's for dinner?" I asked. My mum walked into the dining room with a tray of lasagna. "Perogies. Your fathers favorite," my mum said. My dad looked up.

"Perogies? You know I hate perogies.." He said with disgust. I was confused because I clearly can see lasagna.

"Oh, is that so? I asked you if you liked perogies while you were on your phone, and you just nodded." My dad was about to speak, but my mum put down the tray. "I'm joking about. It's lasagna, but you really do need to get off your phone. You've been attached to it since the business meeting." My dad locked the phone, and put it beside him.

I still could feel some tension in the air through out dinner, and I knew I wasn't going crazy because my mum kept giving my father dirty looks, and rolling her eyes when he would speak.

"How was work, Zayn?" my dad asked. My mum rolled her eyes and stabbed her fork into her lasagna. "It was work.. I'm just happy I don't have it tomorrow." I poked the fork into the lasagna and put a piece in my mouth.

"How was work for you, Yaser?" my mum asked with a cheery smile.

"Great. I had a great time," he smiled.

He took a bite of his food. I glanced around at my sisters to see if they were taking any notice to my parents strange behavior. Waliyha just shrugged. "Who has a great time at work?" Doniya laughed.
