Lauren

I hadn't seen or heard too much from Zayn since the night we'd kissed. I replayed that night a lot in my head. I couldn't believe I just went for it like that. My father tried to punish me, but I was much too old for that, so he took my phone away for two days until he felt bad for me not being able to contact Dinah.

Zayn and I texted and we hung out once, but he'd been working a whole lot. I understood.

I sat on my porch stairs which is something I found myself doing often. I didn't have friends here. I had Zayn, and I guess Zayn's friends. I'd never hang out with them without Zayn though.

I snagged a branch from the bush beside me and started to plucking it and flicking it onto the cobblestone walkway.

I heard a car come to a sudden hault. I looked up. I was slightly startled. It was in front of Zayn's house. The driver of the white vehicle climbed out. Her blonde hair mid length hair was blowing in the wind. She was beautiful. I'd never seen her around.

She leaned against her car fiddling with her phone. I pushed a strand of hair behind my ear and continued to watch her with a newfound curiosity. I watched as Zayn's door opened and Zayn walked out. His car wasn't even out front, and I could have sworn that he told me he was at work. I raised an eyebrow as I made no effort to keep myself hidden.

It's not like Zayn cared.

The blonde shoved her phone into her pocket and she and Zayn shared a very long hug. She kissed Zayn on the cheek. My eyes widened. He wasn't even acknowledging that I was sitting on my stairs right across the street. Zayn got in her car and she got in and he left.

I aggressively ripped another branch from the bush. I tossed it in front of me and stood up. I was surging with jealousy. I walked into my house and slammed the door shut.

"Why are you slamming doors?" My sister, Taylor questioned. She was walking down the stairs. "Where are you going?" I asked her ignoring the question.
"To the park with Waliyha. You knew this too."
"I must have forgot.." I watched as my sister walked past me.

"Do me a solid?" I asked. Taylor sighed and turned from the door to me. She still kept a grasp on the doorknob. If I said one thing she didn't want to agree to, she was going to be out the door so fast.

"What?"
"I just want you to ask Waliyha who Zayn's blonde female friend is.. Do you think you can do that? Act like you saw them and you were just curious." Taylor rolled her eyes at me and laughed. "Crushing is ridiculous," she said before heading out the door.

I didn't know what was so funny. I was genuinely curious... and maybe a little bit jealous.

Dinah was always there for me and I was always there for her. Whatever situation one of us needed the other in. I FaceTimed her, and explained my situation. "You're over-reacting," she said as she painted her nails the 35th shade of gray.

I didn't hear her at first, but then I processed it. "Wait. What?"
"You heard me."
"Dinah. You're supposed to tell me that I'm not over-reacting, and that I need to do investigative work. You're supposed to be on board with these endeavors. Who are you?" I groaned. Dinah laughed and blew at her nails before waving them in the air frantically.
