Lauren

Musically, I had a lot in common with these guys.. Well, Zayn. Zayn was in control of the aux chord. Liam was complaining here and there about the songs he was picking for our listening pleasure. I was sitting in the back seat minding my own business, watching the buildings as we passed them. I had this weird habit of wondering what the story behind everyone I drove past, or walked by was up to. I wondered what their lives were like. Were they going through a rough break up? Did they just have to move away from their friends and family?

"Earth to Lauren." I snapped back to reality, and hadn't even noticed that the boys turned the music down. "Huh?"

"We'd been asking you a question," Zayn laughed. I raised my eyebrows. That's embarrassing.

"Oh.. Sorry. What were you asking?"

"If you're a vegetarian or any sort of non meat eater," Liam said. He floored the gas pedal and rushed through the yellow light. I shook my head. "I'm not, no."

"We were wondering because there is this supreme burger. It's kinda the diners specialty. You've got to try it. You like burgers, right?" Liam asked. I nodded.

"I do, yeah." Zayn smiled at me, and turned back to look out his window. I couldn't look away from him, even though it was just his side profile. He was good looking. He was extremely good looking. From his model good looks, to his bad ass tattoos, to the charming accent... I couldn't get enough.

My phone vibrated in my lap. I grabbed it and saw that I had a text from my dad. Just as I was going to open it, my phone died. I knew I was going to here a lecture of some sort from my dad about how I can't trust everyone I meet. I didn't trust everyone I met. No one should trust everyone they meet. I do however like to give people a chance.

I zoned out again and before I knew it we were at the diner. It was about a ten minute drive from my house. I think. I took off my seatbelt and was the first one out the car. I looked at the sign that read Donders Diner in bold, lit up red letters. The diner was huge.. and very tacky. "Welcome to Donder's," Zayn said. Liam looked up from his phone. "My girlfriend, Sophia is coming as well. I hope you don't mind." I shook my head. I really didn't care.

When we got inside there was an elderly couple in front of us waiting to be waited on. I stood there with my arms over my chest taking in my surroundings. The theme was gold and red. Too much gold and red. There were small chandeliers hanging above every booth. The place smelled like pastries and the perfume of old ladies.

"How many?" the waitress behind the podium asked. Her name was Luci and she had blonde hair with black highlights. She reminded me of a skunk.

"Four," Liam said. "The fourth person is going to meet us in a bit." Luci nodded her head and grabbed the correct amount of menus and silverware. "Follow me." She led us to a booth, and we slid on in. "Can I start you off with anything?" We all said a water. She nodded and walked away to get our drinks and tend to her other assigned tables. I used to work at a diner back in Miami. I hated every second of it.

"So, what was that burger you guys suggested?" I asked breaking the silence.

"It's called the supreme." Zayn, who was sitting beside me, started flipping through my menu. He pointed to the burger. "It's not as massive as it looks in this picture," he laughed. "I'm getting that."

"Same here," Liam said. I looked at the price of the burger. We had converted some of our u.s dollars to pounds, but not all of it yet. I still didn't know how to read it. I kind of did, but I didn't want to make an ass of myself. "I don't know if I am. I don't know if I have enough money."
