As the gates quickly open, I take off. A big drift of wind blows through my hair and nothing but me, my horse, and ground. Nothing will stand between us. The ground shakes, I look straight ahead going as fast as I can. As I ride, I feel like a flower just starting to bloom in the spring. Hearing the crowd cheer our name for encouragement. Nothing or no one but me and my best friend. Going faster than a train. Starting to slow down because my best friend is tired. I lean and whisper in her ear, "We are one." She starts to speed up and we are both ahead of everyone else. As we cross the finish line, I feel like I am the luckiest person alive. Not because I have won, but because I won with my partner, my best friend, my horse. As I go out to the winners circle, they lay a blanket of flowers on my partner and hand me a bouquet of flowers. Reporters come rushing up to me telling me congratulations. I say, "I couldn't have done without my partner. We are one." I kiss my partner above the nose. I suddenly wake up to the sound of my alarm.
