Chapter 2

Tandal looks at me with anger filled eyes. "Tandal if you believe in that than you don't have any morale at all. Everybody should have some morale because without it we are weak and not believed in. And Tandal if we have to stand up for our people we can't let them go to hell or abandon them because than as leaders were weak" I say.

" We show no sympathy for the injure, we have to leave them and start over again" Tandal says sitting on the ground.

"Than you are no leader your weak. You need to make sacrifices as a leader" I say.

" I never know your name" Tandal says.

"My names Aridana, but stop changing the subject" I say.

A little boy runs up to me crying blood covers his right side of his face. "See Tandal this poor boy has no one to comfort him and you think that you're a strong leader a strong leader is someone who doesn't neglect and refuses to comfort a child" I say.

"I get you angry now" Tandal says. I pick the little boy up holding him for comfort. Tandal looks at me frustrated as he starts  walking away. The wind blows leaves up and whirls around. He looks at the poor boys face and frowns.

"You right the boy is hurt and I need to care for him. And stop ignore my duty to the tribe or else they will turn against me" Tandal says.

Misela comes over to Tandal and I bowing my head. "Chief Tandal, a new baby has been born, the mother has passed and the child is in need of a family" Misela says. Misela holds a bundle wrapped in cloth. Tiny hands lay outside of the bundle as the baby starts crying.

"What's the gender of the child? I am truly interested no child shall be abandoned by anyone" I say.

"The child is a girl she has no name no family to care for her. Chief what shall I do with the child?" Misela says.

"Misela, we care for the child own. My wife has showed that we need be more help and care toward tribe" Tandal says. I nod smiling at him taking the bundle from Misela. I uncover the bundle looking at the tiny baby inside of it. Her tiny body wiggles in my grasp and starts to cry. I kiss the light bald head and rub her stomach. Tandal looks at the baby.

"This baby's name will be Chameli, it mean flower. She remind me of a flower bloom" Tandal says. I carry the baby over toward some water scooping water and gently rubbing it on the infant's body. The sun begins to set and the moon begins to rise.

The night started warm and turned to cold. There was lots of crying, screaming and whining around our now crowded simple temporary camp. There was a small fire pit and some water for everyone to drink. But soon I know we will have to go elsewhere to settle down and then call it home. But there was some trouble others like me want to kill the entire Indian race because they believe they're dangerous. But the truth is the indians only want to keep their land they don't want it taken from them like our home was taken from us. And I want to find my father to allow him to know that indians are kind hearted sweet people.

Silence fills the air the fire slowly goes out. I stand up slowly checking on Chameli seeing if she's sleeping. The infant begins to wail loudly waking up a couple other people. "Hush Chameli, darling its okay" I whisper. The infant stops looking into my eyes. I see sorrow and pain in her eyes.

"Llet Chameli sleep" Tandal mutters. I slowly come back to where he lay sitting staring at the stars thinking to myself of what's going on. The moon is seen briefly and the stars shine. Slowly I close my eyes falling asleep.

"The stars are beautiful but it's so cold outside right now. I stand up wandering over toward the fire staring at the red embers. I close my eyes tightly feeling a pull to go into the woods. I slowly make my way into the woods, I look into the darkness seeing a small limp like body in the woods. I walk over toward it when someone grabs me and pushes me to the ground.
