    Chapter 3

I look at Tandal who is smiling at me and everyone else. "My family, we must be willing to forget bad and look good for us" Tandal says. He looks at me smiling.

"We can be strong union and we will learn new things from both sides, whites and indians" I say.

"mon'-e'e" everyone shouts.

"Bride, we mix together marry different marry white" Tandal says.

I look at the surroundings, noticing that everybody has come together to be culturally equal. Tandal steps down smiling at me looking around curiously, he looks toward the woods staring at this one spot.

"Tandal, what's wrong? Is something going on that I should know about?" I say.

"We be watched in trees, time send scouts to take them out" he says. I nod, stepping down and walking toward father's camp stepping into his tent.

"Tandal spots men in the trees, and he's concerned that they will bring harm to us" I say. Father looks at me nodding.

"That is milita checking the grounds from above since you were attacked earlier" he says. I nod leaving the tent and going back to Tandal.

"Tandal it's our people they're making sure no danger is arriving on us when we least expect it" I say.

"He no right, he speak to me before any decisions are made, without me" he says angrily.

"Tandal he doesn't know that you want communication" I say. Tandal walks over to me raising his fist, I move back frightened that he might strike me. Tandal storming off angry.

"Tandal I am sorry...." I say as he walks away. All of a sudden a loud howling noise pierced that air sending it all around us. I jump looking around seeing people scatter and hide in places they can. I look toward the woods to see two sets of bright red colored eyes in the shadows. I watch as the creatures slowly start creeping toward me from the shadows. I slowly back up trying to get away from the creatures. I stare into their eyes thinking about what will happen to me next. I stop in my tracks biting down onto my bottom lip.

I continue to move back holding my hand out toward the creatures that growl and howl at me coming closer. They stop several feet from me, growling louder. All of a sudden they jump at my body knocking me over. One of the creature's bite into my arm. They dig their teeth into my flesh hard. I try to push one of them off of my body, pushing them onto the ground and getting up trying to run.

"Aridana, don't move. They come after you if you move" Tandal says. I stop moving, laying flat onto my back breathing slowly trying to make sure they run off and don't come after me. Several minutes later the creatures leave without a single sound.

"Thank you, Tandal. I was so frightened I didn't know if I was going to make it or not" I say as the indians all come out of their hiding spots and come over to Tandal and I.

"ehoosanest tse" one of the men say.

"E-e'e' atamano'e" another says.

"he-amaneo'o" a young lady says.

"She no witchcraft, no dangerous, and it is my way of doing Ahtunowhiho" Tandal says angry. I look at Tandal worried about what they're talking about. I look at everyone around him. They all look scared and worried. I pull the tooth out of my arm throwing it to the ground angry. I walk away going toward to tree line. I lean against a tree looking up into the sky filled with large white clouds and blue sky.

"Aridana, are you okay?" someone says behind me. I turn looking around seeing Lukas. I look away staring at the ground.

"I don't see this ending well with combining our forces. I may be the reason people are hurt...... I am just some stupid little white girl who doesn't belong here. I just had to be involved in this, didn't I?" I say. He stares at me unsure. Little did he know that I was so heartbroken and unsure of my next steps little did he realize I felt so alone and not understood.
