Magnus stared at him. Dang, He thought, he's cuter than I remembered. My age must be catching on. Out loud he said," Alexander, how nice to see you again. What brings you here at-" he stopped to check his watch, then remembered he didn't have one," this hour?"
Alec shrugged, "I wanted to thank you." He smiled shyly, "For saving my life. If it weren't for you, I'd be dead right now. The demon poison was deadly."
Alec saw the warlocks eyes shine brighter as he finished speaking. Then it was gone, his normal whatever appearance resurfaced,"It was nothing, Alexander." said Magnus, who waved him off," I've saved more lives than I can count. You're just one of the many I have saved. It was nothing. I'd do it again if I have to."
Alec shuffled his feet,"Um, thanks. May I come in?"
Magnus smiled," Sure. Welcome to my humble loft here in Brooklyn!" With that, he stepped aside to let Alec in. He caught Alec's eye and dropped a glittery wink.
"So, Alexander, would you like something to drink? Water? Coffee? Chai tea?"
Alec blushed when Magnus used his full name, "No thank you." A pause, "Actually, I do have a favour to ask you."
Magnus raised his eyebrow,"I knew it. Well, since you're already here, you might as well say it and I'll see what I can do."
Alec took a deep breath,"Will you go out with me?" He said it breathlessly. It wasn't meant to be loud and clear. He only came because Isabelle made him. But maybe, He had thought, maybe he would be interested.
The room was quiet after he said that. It seemed like minutes, even hours before Magnus finally spoke.
"I'm sorry Alexander, could you repeat that?"
"I asked if youwouldgooutwithme." Repeated Alec in the same muttering way.
