"I-is he going to be okay?" You stutter, tears threatening your eyes as the doctor drops the clipboard to his side.
The doctor sighs, looking down and shaking his head lightly. When he looks back up to you, all thoughts of hope for Hayes are gone.
"Ms. y/l/n, I'm so sorry for your loss."
You don't say anything, you don't move. A small and sad smile crosses your lips as you thank you doctor. When he leaves, you curl up into a ball. You are the only one in that waiting room, Hayes' parents gave up hours before. But you still had hope. Hope that he would pull through, hope that he would make it. But he didn't, and now you don't know what to do.
"No," you whisper quietly to yourself.
"It isn't true, it can't be true. This can't be real! This is all bullshit!" You exclaim as a worried nurse enters the room.
"Ma'am, we are going to have to ask you to leave now," she says calmly, and you shoot her a glare.
"Why? Because he's gone? Because there's no hope for him?" I say, sobbing into my jacket sleeve.
"No," she replies, "because there's a very large family coming in for their grandfather and there's only so much space," she replies.
You smile sarcastically. "Oh, I didn't realize I was taking up so much room," you say getting up and walking towards the door. You turn around once more to look at her. "And fuck you."
