I am a Exlander. The thought hits me as I walk towards the park from the shops. This means I could have magical powers. I just don't know how to use them. I need a teacher. I think to myself as I sit down on a park bench next to a older man dressed in robes. He looks wise but very worn down by years and tired. I smile to him and he smiles back. We sit there for a few minutes before I decide to talk.

"Hi," I say "my name is Piper."

He chuckles and then looks at me.

"I know who you are," he says still chuckling after the fact.

"Oh.....ok," I say and then carry on "um.. so I was wondering if you know where I could um..... well...... you see I need someone who can answer some questions for me and asap."

I said this quickly expecting him to laugh right in my face and walk off, but he sat there listening to me   taking in every word.

"What exactly do you want to know?" he said.

I thought about this for a moment and silently giggled over the irony. The fact was that I wanted to know everything, in fact I wanted to know so much that I had upset Asher, drove myself crazy, and I was even willing to talk to a random stranger about my problems. So I decided on a answer that I knew would suffice for the question at hand.

"Everything"

He smiled and said,"follow me."

He stood up and started walking. I tried to give myself time to decide whether or not I should follow him, but figured if I was willing to go this far it wouldn't matter.

We walked for a long time until he stopped at the end of one of the tunnels and turned into a dead end.

I looked at him suspiciously and he just kept walking.... right into the wall! I could not believe what I just saw! I stared at the wall for a minute, there was no sign that it was a trap door or turning wall. I stepped back.

"What just happened?" I say to myself.

I swear I didn't just dream that up, but for good measure I pinch myself just in case. I try to turn around, but before I do I am grabbed and pulled into some dark room. I think about screaming, but it seems pointless. I then turn to face my kidnapper, but it is the same old man from earlier.

"What is going on?" I say in a shrill yet squeaky voice.

"Miss.Newt I suggest you stay calm," he says turning to flick on the lights.

The room is illuminated by a huge gold chandelier, and then I realize where I am. This is a library. My eyes travel around the room searching bookcase after bookcase.

"Wow, this is amazing," I say finally looking back at the old man.

He gestures me towards a pair of chairs in the center of the room and we walk over to them. I sit down still trying to let my eyes adjust on one thing.

"Is this all yours?" I say.

"Yes indeed, it once was meant for the whole community, but it had to be hidden incase of human spies finding it and stealing valuable information. I now simply watch over it and keep it in order," he said.

"That's so cool, but why did you bring me here? I am technically a human how do you know I am not a spy."

He looked me directly in the eyes and said "I trust you Piper Newt. If you were an evil human you wouldn't have risked your life for all those warlocks."

I thought about this for a moment, human or not I couldn't imagine letting anyone die if I could help it.

I shrug.

"Well anyway, what were some of the questions you wanted to ask?" he said.

"What is Asher the leader of?" I asked.

"All of us, his father was the master warlock but he was killed in the War of Light or as you know it the war between the humans and warlocks. After he died Asher took over the position," he said.

"Oh, um thanks for explaining it, but I think I have to go clear something up. Do you mind if I come back tomorrow?" I said as I turned for the door to leave.

I have to clear this with Asher and I need to tell him I am sorry now. I can't believe I was so judgmental of him.

I turned and tried to run as fast as I could on a still hurt leg.
