What We Would Do

Chapter 11

The door bursts open behind us.

"Piper Newt we have a warrant for your arrest," a voice yells and I hear the sound of boots hit the floor. I look up at Asher. He steps in front of me. 

"No one will be arrested," He yells at the robed people coming towards me, " I am the head warlock and there better be a good reason as to why you just burst into my house demanding the arrest of a guest of mine."

 The other warlocks go silent. I stare at them and then I recognize the person yelling out the commands. It is the lady that I saved from the fire.

What is she doing here? I think to myself. I saved her life.

She walks toward us.

"I am extremely sorry Master Head Warlock, but there has been news and the council has reason to believe that it is of her doing, we realize that she has been somewhat of a distraction for you, so we decided in our humblest opinion that it is our duty to our people to think more clearly in your place," she says to Asher.

He gives her a cold stare.

She flinches and steps back.

"I had no intention to do this but if you do not cooperate we will take the girl forcibly," She says now in a shakier voice clearly scared.

"How dare you come into my house and threaten me," he yells at her now extremely furious.

"You will not touch this girl or I can promise you I will have you hung for defying me," he says watching her carefully.

I am shocked. I look up at him. 

I can't let this happen. He will loose favor in the council and even possible his place as Head Warlock. I step out from behind him.

"No one is going to be hung," I say.

 Then I watch as everyone stares at me. I look at the lady.

"I am willing to go with you peacefully," I say and the lady nods at me with a hint of gratitude I stare her down, "but on one condition you tell me here and now what it is that I am being charged with."

I look out of the corner of my eye to see Asher's face and his expression is a mix of confusion and shock. Then he speaks.

"Piper you don't have to do this I can resolve this." 

I put my hand up to stop him. 

"No, I will not risk you jeopardizing your position because of me."

The lady then gives what looks like a signal to the guards behind her and they start to come towards me, but I step back.

"I am not going anywhere until you tell me what I am charged with," I say to her again.

She signals the guards again and they stop. She then pulls out a piece of paper and starts to read off of it.

"Piper Newt you are charged with treason against the warlock court for tipping off the human race as to our whereabouts and for aiding attackers in the endangerment of warlocks and the burning of a capitol warlock building," she says.

My jaw drops and Asher looks at me in utter shock.

"I...I didn't do any of that I.....I saved you from that fire. Why would I crawl into a fire I started?" I say.

"Piper?" It is Asher, "Piper did you do any of that?"

"No, no way," I say now visibly shaking "Asher I would never do anything like that to you or anyone else, you have to believe me I am innocent, I swear."

He puts his hand up to his mouth and looks at me intently in thought.

"I don't know who to believe, Piper."

I feel cold hands restrain both of my arms. It is the guards. I look around scared. They start to drag me out of the room.

"Asher, Asher" I yell but he remains standing still. I am then pulled completely pulled out of the pod and they start walking me through the square. Then I see Locke.
