Jedi Temple, 14 Years Earlier
Thunder roared throughout the sky, lightening rippled the black and grey mesh of clouds. A waterfall of pain washed down from the heavens, muddying the once lush green grass. Terrified screams echoed in the night, cries of horror were audible, even through the heavy rain. One young girl, who had to be only 6 or 7, with dark hair, brown eyes and two newly grown adult teeth at the forefront of her mouth, was running. Her feet splattered in the mud. Turning her head to her left she saw bodies, writhing in pain, or motionless, covered in blood. Choking on her own sobs, along with the heavy rain made her vision impaired. Turning a corner, her arm was roughly grabbed. Before being able to scream her mouth was covered with a large hand. The owner of these large hands held her still. With a swift motion with his other hand, the girl fell unconscious. The man, who was accompanied by the girl's mother, turned to speak to her, having to shout over the rumbling thunder and the mass of rain.
"Take her away!" He shouted, "She is too powerful to die. Take her from this place and hide her. You cannot stay with her, they will look for you too. She is safer alone!"
The woman knew not to protest. The wisdom of the great Jedi in front of her was too large to disagree.
"Luke, my poor girl will never sleep peacefully again. This night has been torturous to the innocent mind of a young girl."
"My dear Haira, trust me when I tell you that her memories of this night will be long gone from her mind when she awakens. You must leave now, quick otherwise you will suffer the same fate of these poor souls that surround us. Get on the ship and leave." Despite Luke's persistence, Haira was still hesitant.
"W-what about you Luke, you can't stay here, come with us." She pleaded.
"I have no business in staying here, but I must go into exile. I have failed. I could not uphold the balance that I brought to the Galaxy. The dark side has risen once more and I cannot stop it this time. The Jedi Academy has failed, and therefore I have failed. Please leave now, I'm sure I will see you again...one day."
Luke planted his hand on the shoulder of Haira, as a symbol of good luck, and he ran away, leaving the mother and daughter alone. Haira hurried onto the ship, holding the girl in her arms. With a quick yet deep breath, she took off on the ship. She took one last glance back at the carnage, the bodies, the anguish, and the flames engulfing the Jedi Temple.Standing in the midst of this wreckage, were a group of seven people. Dressed in all black, with masks of varying design, and the power of the dark side lingering over them - they were the Knights of Ren. At the forefront of this group, was the one wielding a cross-bladed red lightsaber. They stood with confidence, pride and victory. In the shadows watching them, was Luke Skywalker. He turned to his trusted droid R2-D2, and placed a hand on him. "When the force calls you, you will awaken. Do you understand Artoo? When you feel the force call, reveal the secrets hidden inside you. I will miss you my friend, but for now, it is farewell." Luke got up off of one knee and ran swiftly to his ship. He took off with no hesitation. His mind was a whirlwind of suffering. He had failed his quest. His destiny was no more. His eyes were sunken and defeated...
