Listen to Mr. Brightside by The Killers for this chapter
Nate's POV
Violet and the rest of us walk into the restaurant to find that it was surprisingly empty. There were a few people here, but what caught my attention was the one person sitting by the window alone. I knew exactly who it was. It was Jaylyn. I gave her an envelope of cash and wrote a note. I told her to come here to meet me. I wanted to be alone with her to explain why I was with Violet.
I'm not really dating her. We're just acting like it to protect Jaylyn. Every since her brother was shot and killed because of another gang I swore to protect her. Luke was my best friend. I know Jaylyn was lying when she told everyone that he ran away. How do I know that? Because I was the one who had to "bury" him. The whole caring about her thing brought back bad memories for her and I couldn't make it harder then it already was for her.
I told Violet that we were only going to pretend to have this relationship out in public but she seems to be making it much more real. She's always trying to hold my hand and make out with me in front of everyone. It's really annoying.
When I see Jaylyn look over at us I quickly look away. She looked so damn fine. Her body looked so fucking nice in her dress.
When we sit down we order then Johnson speaks up. "Did you do it?"
"Yup placed it right where Nate wanted it." She says and grabs my hand from under the table. I shake her hand off and continue to look at Jaylyn as her back was to us.
"Good knowing her she would just take the money and buy whatever she wanted with it and avoid the note." Matthew says to us all.
"What Note? I only gave her money." I say. I didn't want any of them to know that I wrote her a note telling her to meet me here.
"Good Jaylyn is really stupid when it comes to reality. She thinks the whole world is out to get her so she wouldn't be brave enough to even go buy the dress let alone get the dress." Violet says. She ignored my question. But she's shit talking Jaylyn which isn't cool. She was supposed to be her best friend. The guys laugh at what Violet says then Jaylyn gets a phone call.
"I don't even know why you would want to hook up with her in the first place. She has no money, she isn't even pretty, her mom is a meth addict and the girl doesn't shower for at least four days at a time." She says and acts like everything she said was fine.
"She seemed like an easy target. Plus she has a nice ass." Nash says. Her ass is nice, but the easy target part wasn't true. I liked how she was chill with me when it was just us two talking. She didn't try and flirt with me or try and be slutty. She was normal. I flirted with her but she didn't pick up on it. Also when I sang that song to her, nobody has ever heard that before. Something about her made me want to share it with her right then and there.
"Guys just stop talking about her like that." I tell them. She was a nice person who doesn't deserve all the shit that is coming out of their mouths.
"Were you even her friend?" Sam asks Violet. This kid is super fucking stupid I swear.
"At one point yes. It stopped when her parents got divorced and when her brother ran away." She tells the guys. When she says that my jaw clenches and so do my fists. She was pretending to be her friend in the hardest time of her life. Her brother was one person who she felt safe around.
"Don't you feel bad about saying this stuff about her?" Gilinsky asks. They should. She's an amazing person who doesn't deserve this.
"Not one bit. It's not like she would ever know." Violet announces. Karma's a bitch.
"You know she sleeps for money right?" Dillon says. As soon as he says that I kick his leg underneath the table. Johnson and Sam were the only people who knew about my feelings for Jaylyn. They were the only people I could trust.
"Her mom makes her." Violet tells them. As soon as she says that Jaylyn stands up and a knife was thrown hitting the table. We all look at her. I know I had a little smirk on my face. This girl was very dangerous when she needed to be.
"Next time look to see who is around when you're talking trash." She says and starts to walk out of the restaurant.
"I wish that hit you." I say to Violet and get up. "Jaylyn wait." I say and make my way to her. I manage to grab her wrist just as she exits the building.
"What Nate? What do you want?" She asks me.
"I'm so sorry about what they said." I tell her. I so desperately was. I wanted her to believe me when I said that.
"Why you know it's true. You played me and I fell for it. Then you have my best friend in on it? Why are you doing this?" She asks me and I notice that she's about to cry. I just want to protect you. I never wanted them to come with me to this place. I know I was an hour late but they made me wait and have them come with. If only I could tell her all of this.
"I didn't know she did that." You did it you stupid fuck. "Look I gave you the money to help you out. I didn't write the note. I swear." You're the stupid one now Nate. You just lost her there.
"Maybe next time stay away from me." She says and yanks her arm away from me and get's in someone's truck. I bring my hands to my head and walk back into the restaurant. I go over to our table and sit there.
"What the hell Nate?" Violet asks.
"Shut up." I tell her.
"Excuse me?" She asks all offended.
"I said shut up. You're so fucking annoying." I tell her.
"You can't talk to me that way." She argues.
"Yes I can. We're not in a real relationship let me remind you. I'm only doing this because I don't want someone getting killed. Someone innocent. But I can just as easily fake dump you and you can go die." I tell her.
"Whatever Nate." She says and continues to talk with the other guys. I look out the window and see Jaylyn and that new kid standing there arguing. That's when he grabs her and kisses her. After they were done they get right in his truck and drive away.
"I'm leaving." I say and run out to my car before anyone has time to follow me. I start up my car and start to follow them.
I followed them for a good ten minutes when they pull up to a house. They both get out and run into his house. I sit there and wait till I see them both in his room. He was carrying her then places her on his bed. They were making out on his bed until he gets up and takes off his shirt and he takes off her dress. While he throws her clothes on the floor she gets up and pushes him on to the bed.
Before anything else can happen I start my car and get out of there. I lost all of my trust with her. She obviously didn't care at all. That's all thanks to Violet. I'm going to kill her.
