{Chapter Five}

     "SAMMY, SWEETHEART, COULD you please bring me down my dress shoes, please?"

      "Yeah, dad!" I called from the top of the stairs. Quickly, I walked into my parents room and opened their closet. I glanced around until a spotted my dad's polished black dress shoes, the ones he would only wear on his date nights with my mother.

      "I got them." I called from their room before I walked down the stairs and into the living room, handing the shoes to my dad. He grinned at me.

      "Thank you, honey."

      I smiled up at him. My father was a tall man, standing above me by a full two and a half feet. Tonight was his usual Thursday dinner dates with my mother, so he wore a nice black suit and tie for the occasion. His hair was slicked back which complemented his dark blue eyes. He was very handsome for a man his age to say the least, and I was very proud to say I was related to someone so good looking.

      "Evie, babe, are you ready?" My dad called as he looked at himself in the mirror, fixing his gray tie.

      My mom's real name was Evelyn, and Evie was a name that only my dad was able to call her. My mom would tell Mikey and I stories about when they first met in college, and how my dad would started calling her Evie, because all the other guys that were interested in her would call her Evelyn or Lynn. She said he wanted to stand out to get her attention, and the nickname had stuck after all those years.

      "I'll be down in just a quick second, Micheal!" My mom called from the restroom upstairs. "I am almost ready." My dad playfully rolled his eyes as he smiled at me.

      "Women."

      My mother walked out of the bathroom, turning off the light. "I heard that, Micheal." She grinned. "How do I look?" she asked, smoothing out her dress. Her long black hair was curled and fell perfectly upon her shoulders, she wore her favorite silk black dress that came down to her ankles. She had on diamond necklace with matching earrings that my dad got her a few months ago. All in all, my mother looked stunning.

      "Wow, Evie," My dad breathed, "you look beautiful."

      I could have swore that she blushed. "Thank you, sweetie." She then turned her attention to me. "What do you think, Samantha? Do you think I look okay?"

      My mom was a beautiful woman, and I always felt a since of pride when people would say that I had looked like her. "You look great, mom."

      "Thank you, Samantha." She smiled as she walked down the stairs towards my father and I and kissed my forehead. "Oh honey, are you sure you don't want to go with us? The Shepard's are coming. They have a son your age, you know." She gave me a wink.

      I laughed as I shook my head. I have seen the Shepard's son, and to be brief and polite, I am not in any way interested. "No, its your and dads night. Anyway, I have a paper due tomorrow."

      My mother smiled down at me. "So responsible." Her smile was perfect. Whenever she does its hard to look away because it was just so beautiful. I was told a lot that I had her smile, and I always felt a sense of pride.

      "Parentals!" Mikey calls before he is in eyesight. The three of us looked to the top of the stairs, where we saw a tired looking Mikey, still wearing his pajamas even though it was close to 7 at night. "What's up?"
