Chapter 21 - Caught
Kensi's pov
The last few months have been pretty boring compared to our usual. Slowly I've been building back up my relationship with my Dad. After reuniting with me, Hetty put in a few words with the big guys and he was cleared of all potential charges. Obviously after being "dead" for 15 years, there was a lot of things to catch up on. Explaining things to my mother was a hard one, but they seem to be reconciling just fine now - Dad's also staying there as he didn't really have anywhere else he could go.
Deeks has been acting really weird all week and it's really starting to piss me off. Every time I ask him what's up his voice goes really high and he says 'What?! Nothing?! Why would you think something's wrong?!' or he just straight up lies to me.
I walked into the kitchen to find Deeks on the phone talking in a hushed whisper.
"Dude I'll explain later, Kensi could walk in here any second!" He let out a laugh.
I frowned and crossed my arms - this has been happening the past few days too. Deeks then turned around and jumped when he saw me stood across the room.
He cleared his throat, stood up a little straighter and spoke into the phone again "Okay I gotta go momma, I'll call you later. Love you too".This triggered the beginning of annoyance as I clearly heard him call the person on the other end of the line 'dude' about a minute earlier - he obviously didn't know I was stood there. But why did he lie? What is he trying to hide?
"That your mom?" I questioned, just to see his response.
"Uh yeah, just called to see how we're doing", he lied straight to my face again, looking down at the floor then giving me a thin smile.
This was the final straw for me.
"Mhmm right. Well when you call your 'mom' back be sure to give her my regards" I snapped shoving his gun and badge that I had just gotten out of the bedroom for him into his chest.
"What?! Kensi?! What's wrong, where are you going?!" He yelled at me as I marched towards the door."I'll see you at work", I snapped as I stormed out of the house, slamming the front door behind me leaving a shocked, speechless and confused looking Deeks behind me.
As a result of my leaving the house without him, Deeks and I obviously didn't carpool this morning - I just wasn't in the mood for his crude humour today. As a result of that I had to take a different route to work which meant that I got stuck in the usual LA traffic - and anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a patient person. After I had finally managed to get free of the long line of standstill cars, I was already 30 minutes late for work. To top it all off, when I pulled into the car park I immediately saw that my designated parking spot was already occupied, by none other than Deeks' car. I angrily pulled into a spot that was extremely far from the door and stormed inside the bullpen. Having already been in a bad mood, the journey to work and then the parking situation had just pushed me over the edge.
I was beyond pissed at this point. I could tell without even looking in a mirror that my face was showing an aggressive scowl. I stormed into the bullpen and threw my bag down onto my desk. Sam and Callen immediately exchanged glances and it was obvious that they knew something was wrong.
"Woah, what's up Kens?", Callen asked.
"Nothing", I murmured back, putting my head in my hands. I knew they wouldn't believe me - I had made my mood far from discrete.
"So it's not something to do with that guy you've been seeing lately?", Sam queried.
"Yeah, when're you gonna introduce us?" said Callen.
