Loneliness

Dedicated to all the friends out there.  Good work, guys!

Loneliness.. Is it a curse,

or a blessing

in disguise?

Away from people,

business is my own,

no rush,

no crowds,

just quiet.

Birdsong in the air,

(the fresh, mountain air)

animals everywhere,

what's not to like?

But, to be lonely,

no one to talk to

to tell what happened,

who did what

and why.

No one to comfort you,

if you ever get scared.

No shoulder to cry on,

No one to cheer you,

no one to make you mad,

then make you laugh

the next minute.

I could live without

you say.

But, really, could you?

Could you make the sacrifices

necessary to truly be alone?

Could you live

without friends,

without a family,

without anyone?

If you think it sounds okay,

go ahead, do it!

But let me tell you,

from experience,

lonely is real.

It will eat you up,

like any feeling,

 till there's nothing left inside.

No one can approach you

'cause you scare them.

You change, harden,

put up walls around you

to protect you

from the world?

To protect the world from you?

It's terrible,

not to be able to care.

All you want to do,

is die.

You can't, so you have to

do something, anything.

One day,

you realize,

Hey, pain is good.

So you start.

Addicted to pain,

 that's how you spend

most of your days,

Causing pain.

Others try to help you,

 but you push them away,

feeling like the world

just gave up on you.

Nothing anyone can do

to help you know.

Only you can help yourself

but you are addicted,

not going back.

One day, it happens.

You breathe your last breath,

and succumb to death's sweet kiss.

Once you die,

You look back upon your life.

You see your funeral,

all the mourning,

and you think,

What did I do?

You thought,

if you were lonely,

you would have no weaknesses.

No one could hurt you.

But, you see,

how much you hurt your friends,

pushing them away,

Breaking the hearts of all you met.

And if you could have one wish,

only one,

you would wish to do it over again,

and have a life.

Not just living for pain,

you would live for your friends,

your family,

all the joy in the world.

Don't make the same mistake I did.

Keep your friends close, and don't try to push them away.  Live, laugh, love, and enjoy the day.  Being alone isn't everything.  Make a difference in the world.  And, most importantly, when your friends try to help you, let them.  They can help you get back on the path when you've fallen off.
