I slam my locker door shut only to be inches away from Duncan's face. I jump.

"Are you always so jumpy?" He asks with a chuckle. "Are you always such a creep?" I retort back, hating that I'm blushing at the littlest things.

"No. Only to pretty girls." He says smoothly and I start to walk away, still clutching my books. He follows me.

"So listen, I was thinking you could come over to my house after school and practice lines?" My heart skips a beat.

"Sure." I say nonchalantly as if I'm not currently freaking out on the inside.

"Cool. I'll text you my address." He says just as we reach my home room. "Bye Princess."

My earphones blasted with music as I scribbled some formulas on my paper. Study Hall was a bust and normally I would leave early except I'm having to give Katie and Sadie rides home now; Katie got her keys taken away after getting her third speeding ticket.

My phone buzzes and I check the ID. Duncan.

130 Hartwell Drive. Meet @ 4:30.
------------
"Seriously. Duncan's like, super cute." Katie says from the backseat.

"Yea. Totally cute. Are you guys having a study date?" Sadie chimes in and I roll my eyes.

"No. It's just to practice lines...." I say, exasperated.

I drop Sadie and Katie off at the house and drive over to Duncan's. It was already 4:25.

Duncan had a nice house. Okay. The guy was fucking loaded. His house was a modern mansion to put it simple.

I felt out of place rolling up in my used buggy. I comb a quick hand through my hair and stick a piece of mint gum in my mouth.

Just as I raise my hand to knock on the door, Duncan's already opening it. "Hey." I say, feeling awkward and out of place.

"Come on in." He holds the door for me and I gape at the inside.

"Woah." I say, unable to help myself. Duncan shakes his head and smiles a bit. "It's too big, honestly."

"I mean. I knew your house was big from the look of the outside but shit!" I say looking at the huge chandelier that hung from the high ceilings and the large staircase that lined each side of the wall.

"So...I guess we could go to my room..." He says, scratching his neck.

I follow him upstairs to his room. If there weren't so many family pictures that were stock proof that Duncan lived here and was part of the family, I couldn't have guessed from the look of his room.

Every wall was dripping in black. There were rock band posters lining the walls and some...sexy photos of girls in bikinis; I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

There were clothes on the floor, random bottles of hair gel lying around and it smelled faintly of cigarettes and weed.

"Wow. This is....super clean." I say teasing. "I know. I'm super OCD. Everything has a specific spot on the ground." He says and I laugh.

We sit on his bed, that's surprisingly made up. It's an awkward silence until I pull my book out of my bag.

"So...lines?" I say, flipping to the first scene.

"Uh. Yea. Lemme just find my book."

The book might be in here, but we both couldn't easily tell with all the shit on the ground.

"Sooo while I'm trying to find it how about we play a game?" He says picking up some clothes.

"Um...sure." I close the book and place it gently on the bed.

"So...where ya from?" He says.

"Mmmm. Everywhere." I say clasping my hands and laughing nervously.

"Wow. Never been there before....what do you mean for real tho?"

I shrug as if he can see but he's too busy throwing away wrappers in the trash.

"I guess...I don't know. After my dad died, it's like my mom refused to stay in one spot...like she couldn't possibly handle getting too settled in for a chance that she might lose something else. So we always packed up and moved. I've lived everywhere from New York to Toronto and California."

For a moment he's silent and I wonder if I've already managed to scare him off.

"Wow it just seems like you're the world traveler aren't you? Well as for me I've lived in this shithole my entire life."

I don't really know what to say, and especially by the looks of his house I don't know if I would call it a shithole either.

But he turns around suddenly and grins holding up a grease stained book.

"I found it." I smile and shake my head slightly.

"Ok then. On to lines." I open up my book as he sits next to me. Close. Close enough to where I feel the heat rising in my cheeks and my body.

This was gonna be a hell of an afternoon.

HOLY GUACAMOLE!

I realize I haven't touched that chapter in a damn year! And I know I've been away for centuries upon end and the truth is I have no excuse🤷🏾‍♀️. I got really busy and writers block had me in the dumps forever! Often times I was just so stuck trying to think of how to piece my stories together because honestly, isn't writing has slowly developed from when I first started writing Wattpad fics to now. I feel like it's totally different and so looking at these stories now, like a year later I'm trying to piece it back on the track I now want it to go. I don't necessarily know when I will have everything finalized but I'm trying to finish up all my stories and after that friends, i might just be finished.

I never really understood the commitment to writing fanfics but mannnn it is ALOT! And I'm almost grown now and the older I get the less time I have. Now this doesn't mean I'll quit forever and I haven't made my final decision but who knows. -----duncneywonderland❤️
