Whatpad?

Heads Up ...

So one thing people have complained about quite a bit are the profile headers. Heard it  from a few people. 

Seems as if Whatpad can't get them quite right. I've had a few users give me feedback on them. The headers are quite odd indeed. There are quite a number of things wrong with them.

Let's get started, shall we?

1) They're dark. 

2) They're fuzzy

3) There are some colors that appear much worse off than others.

4) Don't try and crop it to resize it, just don't, it won't work.

Those are the main issues. Let's break it down now, shall we?

So first off they're dark. For whatever reason Whatpad makes the headers appear several shades darker than their original colors. No one can explain why this is and it seems as if no one at Whatpad wants to admit its even being done. A few users have emailed about the headers and none have gotten even close to any satisfactory answers about the headers. 

Next, they're fuzzy. Yes, because they darken the colors some things come out fuzzy. Not all but certain items. And if you don't use a high res image it's just ick. Which brings us to item three ...

Some colors come out worse than others. Specifically, nearly all shades of red and most shades of blue. (I haven't heard of any other colors, but if you know of any let me know and I'll add them!) 

If you put your header up and it doesn't fit (For example something is cut off on the top or bottom) you will have the urge to simply reszie it and make it smaller or crop it, or some other nonsense. Resist the urge, it will do you no good. Whatpad will simply upsize the image to make it fit their template. This will, of course, make it fuzzy because they will expand the image. (I'm pretty sure it actually still upsizes it slightly anyway even if you made it the proper size to begin with)

All in all, the headers, for the most part, look like crap. A lot of users can't figure out how to size them (they need to be 1900X600 by the way) or they use images that aren't HD and they come out very fuzzy. Or they put things so they end up cut off on the top or bottom or behind their profile icon. Whatpad didn't make it simple, they turned it into a freaking artform. And most users don't want to take that much time to make a header. 

They want SIMPLE. You humans are sort of lazy I've found. (no offense!) I can see where simple would be nice, you want to spend your time writing, not making a silly profile header! 

So, I think it would behoove Whatpad to go back tot he drawing-board on this one.
