Notified ... or Not ...

Has anyone noticed the new change to your notifications? A little red dot pops up and you get all excited ... "I have a message," you think to yourself. "Someone likes me!" (ok maybe you don't think that.) But you get the point.

Instead of a PM, it's a notification. So you click and go to the notifications, only ... it's something you've already checked ... three or four days ago.

Once again a Whatpad update that works improperly. I'm uncertain if Whatpad planned for this change to work in this way or not. But having notifications lumped together from weeks ago with things that have happened minutes ago is insanity, but this is Whatpad so I suppose we should expect that sort of thing by now.

How do you stare at a notification for a thread you belong to and sort out what is a new notification from an old when they're all lumped together and the number says something along the lines of 40, 50, 90 or more? I've had users tell me they have received notifications telling them about new comments on threads where there are no new comments. So how exactly is this change set up to work or not work as the case may be?

Of what use, exactly, is the Beta program? Does Whatpad even pay attention to any of the results from said program? It would seem not, since every change that is put into effect has massive issues and seems to be disliked by a vast majority of users that I speak with. So again what exactly is the use of this Beta program? They obviously aren't listening to the feedback of users in the program and they aren't using it to knock out all of the bugs in any of the new changes. So why even have the program? just so users can get overly stressed by new changes before they are put into effect?

Seems legit, something Whatpad would do to us.

Another issue with these new notifications, that fabu little dot will show up, but when you check theres nothing new showing. Ahhhh but ... if you refresh your page and watch VERY closely you'll notice just before the page completely refreshes there ARE new notifications. However, they disappear when the pages finishes refreshing. Oft times these new items don't show up on the list for as little as few hours or as long at 24 to 48 hours. Enjoy!

And again, if you ask for answers you get either dead silence or the standard answer from out of their Whatpad binder of answers, "We're working on it, you can't expect changes to go into effect immediately."

So enjoy your new notifi-non-cations everyone!
