Chapter Twenty-Eight

Jeff's POV

I skip down the stairs turning into the living room where EJ, Hoodie and BEN are playing video games.

"Hey guys, have you seen Sky?" I question. They all continue to stare at the screen, not even acknowledging me.

"Guys!" I raise my voice and EJ pauses the game.

"Sorry, dude. What did you say?" EJ asks while BEN groans in annoyance.

He's such a little shit sometimes.

"I said, have you seen Sky anywhere?" I repeat and they all shake their heads.

"Not since she left earlier tonight. Maybe she's at the clearing?" Hoodie suggests and I nod.

I walk into the clearing and scan the area. She's always here, unless she's out killing but she tells me when she's going killing.

"Sky?" I call, but there's no reply. I search for a while longer until my eyes land on something shining in the moonlight by the lake.

I walk over and panic immediately sets in. On the ground, is a large empty syringe and a small piece of paper laying next to it. I gingerly reach down, picking it up and examining.

My heart drops at the words.

'How about a game of cat and mouse?'

Instantly, I know who it is.

Jane.

I thought I'd dealt with this. She agreed to stay away, and she was firm on her agreement. What's changed her mind?

I start running back to the mansion, my thoughts clouded with emotion.

Bursting through the mansion doors, I sprint up to Slendy's office.

I run in without knocking and Slendy stands quickly.

"Skylar's been taken." I blurt out.

"What do you mean, child?" He replies smoothly.

"Jane. She's...ta-taken..Sky." I pant out, exhausted from my run.

"Call everybody in, we'll meet in the living room." He instructs and I nod, running downstairs.

Once we're all gathered in the living room, Slendy explains what has happened.

Masky immediately stands up and punches the wall, clearly frustrated that she's been taken.

"I'm going to fucking kill that bitch!" Masky screams, referring to Jane. I can't blame him, all I want to do right now is kill Jane and get my Skylar back.

"Calm, child." Slendy says but Masky just storms off. I sigh, he's not going to be of any use if he's not here.

"Hoodie, go get him. Calm him down. We need him here." I tell Hoodie and he nods, walking off to find Masky.

"Jeff, you would know more about Jane than anyone here. Where would she take Skylar?" Slendy enquires and I shrug.

"There's so many places. One of her main hideouts in 3 towns over?" I suggest. Slendy shakes his head and I start pacing.

"Jane would expect us to look there. Somewhere big, and far away. It's got to be close and small." EJ says and everyone agrees.

They all look at me as I pace, deep in thought. Minutes pass and Masky has returned, yet none come to mind.

"The warehouse! The old abandoned warehouse." Masky butts in and we stare at him confused.

"I've seen Jane wander in there with another person. It was just last week while I was killing in that area." He explains.
