After Rey left, the guard came back. She was completely unaware of what had just happened.
Kylo didn't know what to do. For once in his life, he was completely and utterly clueless. The girl, Rey, was the main problem, actually. He could admit one thing to himself about it: he cared about her. A lot. And what to do about it, he was unsure. The thought of losing her made him feel as if someone were tearing open his chest and clawing his heart out, but leaving her behind would be the best thing for the First Order. It would make his Grandfather proud. And that was what he wanted.
Right?
~~~~~
Rey was confused. She didn't know why she had touched his face. It had just felt right. But he had backed away like he was frightened by it, not angry. That was what had surprised her most. He could lie to her all he wanted, but she knew there was light inside of him. She knew he knew it, too.
Rey stumbled back into camp without being stopped by anyone. She had an odd feeling about him, Ben. Not necessarily bad, but it didn't feel good. It was like a dull ache in her chest. If she could just get him to open up, she could bring him back home. And she wanted him to be home. With her. She couldn't bear the thought of him going back to Snoke, where he would be mistreated and used.
She opened the flap to her tent and collapsed into her bed. Rey fell asleep instantly.
~~~
She stood in a desert. Jakku. Sand whipped all around her but she felt nothing of it. In the distance, she saw a figure. Rey didn't see anything at all besides him, so she ran closer. But every step she took, the figure was farther and farther away.
"Hey!" She called. It turned around. The figure was hooded and covered by a mask.
She took another step and at last, she grew closer to the thing. Soon, she was standing right next to it.
"Hello?" she asked. The being was silent. "Can you remove your mask?"
The figure shook its head. "No," it responded in a deep, mechanical voice. She instantly recognized the voice. She looked closer at the helmet and squinted to try and see it through the mass amount of sand zooming through the air.
It was Kylo's helmet. It was Kylo standing in front of her.
"Please," she begged him. The sand was growing more restless. It was hitting her body so hard, she was starting to bleed.
"No."
The desert disappeared. Now, they were in the forest right outside of Maz's castle, where they had first met. They both stood on top of the hill that she had been captured on.
"Ben," she said. "Take off your mask."
This time he obliged. She heard the snap and the rush of air as he removed it. She leveled her eyes with his. He looked broken.
"Save me," he pleaded, falling to his knees. "I don't want this anymore."
She knelt in front of him and gently took his face in her hands. He kept his low and began fumbling with his belt.
"I will help you," Rey said. But it was too late. He had already taken his lightsaber out.
As soon as he turned it on, she whispered, "I still believe in you."
~~~~~~~
Now, she was awake. Rey was pale and sweaty. "Just a dream," she whispered to herself. "Just a dream." She swung her legs over the bed and yawned. As she was changing her clothes, she heard someone call her name. She hurried to put her outfit on and then walked out.
