 Beccas POV

I got up of the floor slowly and a sudden pain went through my waist. I clutched my stomach and gasped as I tried to walk but I just stumbled to the wall. I used my hand to push myself up of the wall where I paused for breath. I had to get out before he came back. My thoughts were interrupted when a loud voice made me jump. I turned hoping it to be Nick coming back to get me. But it wasn’t.

“Where do you think you’re going?” I turned and looked at the masked man. “Where have they all gone?” He was now right in my face. I looked at my feet. I was trying to find the breath to talk. “WHERE ARE THEY?”

“They ran out and I tripped and fell and...” I talk too fast and stuttered. I began to cry and tears ran down my face. He put his hand on my shoulder. I looked up at him.

“Aw(!)” He did an overly sad face and then a cheeky smile. I felt his arm straighten and throw me back. He laughed. I went back a few steps and then fell over on my back. My head rolled to my right to see the doors leading to the stairs. I brought my head up to see him walking back. I slowly got up and stood to my feet. I began to turn but as I straightened up a shot of pain went through my body and stopped me moving. I looked up at him to see him stop and slowly turn back at me. I looked down and in his hand he had a gun. “Give me one good reason I shouldn’t stick to what I said and shot you right here?” My heart raced. My mind went blank but then I felt that pain again. I hunched over and gripped my mid.

“Oh don’t give me that.” He rolled his eyes. I looked up and he flicked the gun hurrying me to answer his question.

“I’m pregnant.”

“Really?” He asked as if I was lying.

“Yes. Coming up 8 weeks. My first scan was meant to be today at 4.”

“Well it’s not my fault you’re a s!ut. You teenage girls just seem to think you can flaunt it all and not live up to the consequences. ” He laughed again. Tears began to form again. “Do you really think that would stop me shooting you? That would solve all your problems, wouldn’t it. You could just blame it all on me. ‘Oh the big bad man shot me and killed my poor baby!’ Boohoo(!)” He said the last part in a fake girly voice and flapped his free hand around like a 10 year old girl. All this time he kept the arm with the gun out straight pointing right at me. “Well since you want me to I won’t -” Just then the door slammed next to me. “DON’T LOOK!” Too late.

Nicks POV

I ran up the stairs. My heart and lungs were telling me to stop. I felt my body starting to fail but I couldn’t leave Becca behind. If anything happened to her then I would never forgive myself. I got to the second floor. I heard a voice on the other side of the door. I looked in the mucky window on the door. I could just see Becca standing still. She was white and holding her stomach with tears on her face. Even when she stood there pale and ghostly, I could still see her beauty. Her delicate features and dark hair made her look like an angel.  I slowly opened the door and stepped into the corridor. I stayed behind the wall so I could still see her but for me to see him I would need to go right out.  But as I moved my foot the door slammed shut. I closed my eyes and swore at myself silently. I open my eyes at the sound of a man’s voice. One I heard over the phone and my anger boiled. “DON’T LOOK!” but Becca was already looking. Her eyes burrowed into mine. I could see a sigh of relief but just as we thought we were safe a loud bang went off and her body shuddered and face went even whiter and she gasped. Just before her eyes rolled back she gave me a deep stare right into my eyes and she fell to the floor. I wanted to run out to her a catch her in my arms but I couldn’t. I fell down the wall as she went to the floor trying to keep eye contact. I saw her lie still on the floor. She slowly closed her eyes. I tried to catch my breath. I wanted to cry out but I could still hear the man walking away down the corridor. My fists clenched in my hands as I wanted to go kill the guy but then I was the only way of Becca getting out of here. I heard the furthest away door close and so I slowly got up and put my head around the corner. I soon as I realised the man was gone I ran out to Becca. I reached out to roll her over. As I did I was shocked to see her white school shirt was bright red all around the left side of her waist and ribs. I looked at my hand and it was covered in blood too. It was then it hit me fully. Becca had been shot. SHOT!! I ran my hand over her mid and felt the slight bump. Oh dear god! The baby. I felt so bad. I was too busy thinking about Becca to remember my own flesh and blood. It was then I heard the door again. I looked over to the corridor to the right. I swept Becca up and ran around the corner just in time to here the closest door slam. All I heard was the man swearing loudly. I had to get out of here before he went looking for us. I saw the department heads office. It was only room without a window on to the corridor and one of the few that would lock without the key. I went in to the room and placed Becca down on the sofa seat and then quickly locked the door. I placed my back against the wall and slid down. I put my elbows on my knees and put my hands over my eyes. I felt the tears starting to pour out. It was my fault Becca got shot. If I had just been that little bit more careful she wouldn’t be hurt. I looked up and saw her limp figure lying over the sofa. The front of her shirt was now completely red. Her chest rose and fell every few seconds. It was then I snapped out of it. I had to be here for Becca. I had to fix this. I wiped my face and went over to her. Just as I sat next to her she began to cough. Her eyes slid open and they spun around the room. “Becca. I’m here. You’re going to be ok.” She then grabbed her waist. “It’s ok. The bullet hasn’t gone in far.” She looked at me confused. “Becca you were shot?”I said seriously. “No I wasn’t. He said he wouldn’t. It hurts from when I tripped.” I looked at her then her wound. She took her hand of her shirt and looked at it. Her eyes widened. She snapped to me then her eyes rolled back and she was out.
