Nicks POV
I got up and sat down next to her. I pulled he body up and rested her head on my chest and put my arm around her. I didn’t care anymore. I wasn’t just her teacher and she wasn’t just my student. She was my Becca. I looked down at her. She had no colour in her face. The only colour was the iris in her eyes. Those perfect green eyes. She blinked slowly. Her chest raised and fell sharply as if she had just run a marathon. I kept saying to her everything will be fine as she cried into me. Every time is said it I wanted to believe it. I want it to be 100% true but it wasn’t. I didn’t believe it myself. I kept trying to reassure myself that everything would be fine and that Becca would be ok and so would the baby. But I had no idea where this guy was and I didn’t know how to get her out of here. I didn’t know how much longer she had left. At that thought I squeezed her tighter. Not wanting her to fall asleep. I looked down to see her eyes beginning to close. “Becca stay awake for me, ok?” I placed my hand on her cheek. I rubbed my thumb over her soft freckles. I rubbed off some of the run mascara off her face. She looked up at me. I forced a smile on my face. I reached down to her hand which was ice cold. Her breathing was still deep. I bit my lip and looked up to the ceiling trying not to cry or show weakness. Becca needed me to be strong. “Hey Becca?” I pulled her face towards mine. “Tell me something.” She looked back down at her feet. She paused then looked back at me nervously.
“I knew who you were.”
“What do you mean?”
“When we went on our date I knew who you were. I knew you were my teacher.”
“So when...when we slept together you knew I was your teacher?” I said. I should be angry but I couldn’t.
“Yeah. Well I don’t remember sleeping with you? I was so nervous.”
“What do you mean nervous...was it your first time?”
“Well first time with a teacher.” She tried to say with humour but she was too weak.
“So why were you nervous?”
“Because I was going on a date with my teacher.”
“So that ‘low blood sugar’ of yours is just when you’re nervous.”
“Yeah or freaked out. Are you mad?”
“No! Not at all. Just why did you still come if you knew I was your teacher?”
“Because I wasn’t lying when I said I really liked you.”
“Oh. I remember that. Neither was I to be honest.” I looked at her and saw her getting upset. “Even though we never really spent much time together I do miss you. You are really funny, and sweet, and kind. It’s ok though we will...” I hate saying these next words. “just stay friends.” I rolled my eyes and looked at the roof again. We sat in silence for a while. I kept looking at Becca to check she was awake. She would just be looking around the room at the boxes.
“Nick.” She said quietly.
“Yeah what’s up?”
“I’m cold.” I looked around the room and saw my leather jacket on the floor.
“Here.” I went to hand it to her. “Sorry.” I put it over her arms. I lifted her back to get it behind her and her body was heavy and limp. “Is that better?” I waited for a reply while I pulled the jacket around her shoulders. “Becca?” I looked at her eyes. They were closed. “BECCA!” Nothing. “BECCA!!” I waited. Her eyes began to open. “God.” Her head rolled. “Becca keep talking to me. Emm.” I tried to think of something to talk about. “Tell me about a day when you were young.”
