The Cabaret was suppose to be open today but it was actually secretly closed and no one came to see a show tonight thank goodness. Rumors travel fast in Paris, maybe people herd that the monster would be stalking tonight, too afraid to go out to a show.
The dance hall was full of officers conversing in groups and most of them heavily armed with much bigger guns than the one Maynott tried to get rid of me with.
At the sign of their superior and maybe me as well they silenced their conversations somewhat.
Pate took to the steps of the stage, stood in the centre authoritatively and cleared his throut.
"Alright men, we will be ready to take our positions. I already briefed you this morning on our objective tonight. These perpetrators must and will be caught not for the safety of these people here but for the safety of Paris! Dismissed!"
As he walked to the side of the stage where we were he took out a handkerchief to whip his for head " I'm never not nervous when I do speeches like that" he tried to laugh. "Oh don't worry, it was very inspiring!" Carlotta clapped seaming to be over her anger. He gave her a thankful nod.
"Sir!" A young man wearing normal cloths popped out if nowhere and saluted as we a jumped ( especially Raoul and Emile). "Ah, this is officer Comire. Always blends in. Officer, your set to notify them at the Enchanted Garden." He ordered saluting back. "Yes sir!" The eager young man replied popping back into the shadows.
"Gees I'm gonna die of terror before it gets good" Raoul muttered while Lucille took his hand.

It's been around two hours now. We all know something's going to happen and the suspense is only growing. I've been on roof duty with Emile for the past hour and a half while Raoul and Lucille were in the dance hall not wanting to leave each other alone. Also Carlotta was making coffee for the officers not knowing how long we would be guarding, everyone had to stay awake.
You wouldn't think Emile and I would talk much but actually we converse a lot. He is one of my best friends after all. In the end he saw me for what I truly was.
We talked about his and Maud's wedding, how much we loved our partners and how he suspected that Raoul and Lucille would be engaged quiet soon.
I smiled to myself. Maybe mine and Odettes wedding should wait until they marry first. I think I would like to see one of my best friends and the women I love like a mother but also one of my best Friends happy day before our happy day.
Before I could decide heard the commissioners voice "Hello boys, would one of you like to switch off. It's getting pretty cold tonight."
"No I'm fine thank you" I said but I could tell Emile wasn't with his teeth chattering like that. And so he went down the ladder that was on the side of the building leaving me alone with Pate, both of us brass sing the cold with our coats in the chilling dying winter air.
"You know I'm much more open to thing since you came along." He Brock the silence. "Even talking to you right now. If I told my old self this he would think of it as utterly...." "Crazy? Impossible?" I asked when it seemed he couldn't finish. He chucked "both."
He came to stand next to me taking in the view of Paris.
"This city changed too. It doesn't seem like it but little things are different now." He commented. "Do you think the would would change too" I asked not even know that question was in me. He grinned " Possibly. And I sure hope so" he signed. "Well if it can change my mind, it can change the would" he said on a happy note and I grinned at his honesty to me.
We conversed leisurely, it was mostly him talking about the other cases he worked on besides mine and this one. He also admitted that non have been quiet so interesting. When he checked his watch another hour had past and I could tell by his red nose and checks he was freezing.
"You should go in, you' be been out here for a while" I suggested. "Are you as cold as I am?" He asked. I shook my head "I can survive these temperatures, I'm protected" I said motioning to my exoskeleton body.
"Oh well, I guess I'll send up someone to take over then" he said shuffling to the ladder. "Commissioner!" I called before he went down.
"If you come face to face with the creature. Promise me that you won't judge it as you first judged me."
"You have my word" he said sternly and honestly also bowing his head. I watched him as his head disapeared.
Now I have to convince myself to do the same.
I was now alone. I felt I haven't been alone like this for some time. I felt like I haven't sang for so long even though it only been a day. So to take advantage of the peaceful night I started singing in a slow pace:
I don't know, don't know. So don't ask me why. That's how we are, La Seine and I.
I don't know, don't know. So don't ask me why. That how we are, La Seine and I.
That's how we are, La Seine and-I stopped from blinding fear.
Two glowing crimson eyes were staring at me viciously from the roof of the opposite building. The full moon as a spotlight behind it cast the silhouette of a monster so huge and menacing.
Before I could think to describe it with more detail it opened its paracidic mouth . It let out something that was nothing like a human scream nor an animals.
Then with astonishing speed it lunged off the rooftop strait for me.
