Their show was as stunning as it always was, just more up-close and personal than usual. I danced like a crazy person whenever the fan-made music videos were playing, but stayed still when just simple music requests were being played. I kept back like the scary loud man had wanted even if it made me feel very childish in doing so. I did go and watch their 'Dan vs. Phil' in the live lounge when that was happening, in which they had multiple bouncy hopper races. They constantly mouthed words at the camera and made fools out of themselves by falling flat on their faces, but laughed throughout it all. I was allowed to laugh as much as I wanted at that. By that time, the cameras had seen me and so had the viewers.
Seeing as the majority of my subscribers were also avid Danosaurs and Phillions, they were of course watching the live stream of the show. I got a few messages on my Twitter and Tumblr from fans saying that they'd seen me, or questions of if it had been me. I desperately wanted to assure them that it was me but a part of me questioned if I should. Dan and Phil might not want it to be a definite thing. I knew how secretive some YouTubers could be about certain aspects of their life, so Quartzisnotonfire or AmazingQuartz shipping probably wasn't something the three of us should encourage. So, I didn't reply to any of the tweets or Tumblr messages in my inbox, no matter how rare the attention was.
It was close to 20:15, just after 'Dan vs. Phil', when everyone returned to the studio to wait for the results of the challenge. I found my way back to my chair and sat there silently fighting the urge to check Tumblr and Twitter for new questions. I'd have to check with Dan and Phil first about how I should handle it. They had experience with this sort of thing and I didn't really want to say the wrong thing and mess it up. I couldn't very well go and ruin our friendship by blurting about how I now knew them in person to the Phandom and Randomers, could I?
Someone prodded me in my shoulder, drawing me out of my contemplation.
I slowly looked round to the person. I wasn't that surprised that the loud man with glasses was towering over me as he stood at me shoulder. "The boys have asked me to involve you in the show," he said firmly. He was looking more at Dan and Phil at the other end of the studio rather than at me. "They seem to think that if you come on as a special guest, then that should eradicate some suspicion amongst the viewers upon why you're actually here. Now seems a good a time as any."
I tugged at my headphones nervously (which were still around my neck). "W-what would be as good a time as any?"
The man rolled his eyes and actually looked at me, his eyes piercing my skin with pure scrutiny and criticism. "They told me that as well as being friends with them, you're a loyal fan, so you should know what's up next. Go on, tell me."
Why was this guy reminding me more and more of Snape with every syllable he uttered? "Internet News is on soon," I said calmly. It was taking a great deal of mental effort for me to force back the scowl which was just begging to flood my face.
"Exactly. You'd better go and find out what you have to do then, shouldn't you?" He lowered his gaze to the headphones around my neck, which I took as a silent command to remove them. After setting my headphones aside, this man cupped his hand around my elbow where his fingers gripped at me through the fabric of my jacket as if his hands were the temperature of a cattle prod and he was branding my arm. He shepherded me over to Clara, who was holding a leaflet of paper.
The man let go of my arm as I struggled not to rip my arm away from him and check my sleeve for damage. His hand had felt like it had been burning through the fabric, after all. I really wanted to yell at this commanding guy about my personal bubble, but I didn't want Dan or Phil to get in trouble because of me. I was meant to have stayed in that chair. I shouldn't have let the cameras see me. I should have just blended into the background during 'Dan vs. Phil', have asked to be given the camera so that I could have taken the pictures instead of being spotted by viewers. I'd just made a mess of this.
