Percy XXXI

Percy was standing on edge about to jump over to finish it all. truthfully, he didn't know how much more he could take. He had saved the world starting at twelve. Fine. he had almost died several times. It comes with the territory, he could understand that. then he lost his memory, and woke up in some strange place after six or so months. Now that's kind of pushing it. he got sent on another quest that was pegged impossible. well he was kind of getting used to it. And then just as he saved the day, with A Lot of help, reunited with his girlfriend, and got his memory back, He got sent on yet ANOTHER quest and fell down in the pit of hell with his girlfriend. Luke was the last straw.

Percy didn't think that he could take much more stress, he was getting tired of everything and couldn't wait until it ended, but right now he had to deal with his girlfriend's first crush, who had killed himself. Sure Percy felt more than guilty that he couldn't save him, and believed that because of that, it was partially his fault that Luke died, but putting that aside and remembering all the things that Luke put Annabeth through, Percy thought it was safe to feel no love for the former Son of Hermes.

Annabeth tensed beside him and Luke smirked.

"I think the real question is what YOU are doing here." Luke said calmly. Annabeth took the liberty of answering, probably seeing that the moment Percy opened his mouth, he would gut Luke right then and there.

"Luke," she said quietly. "Aren't you supposed to be in Elysium?" Percy was shocked. She actually cares? he thought

Come on Percy, get ahold of yourself, she's right,. Without Luke, the world would have ended, he changed in the end. Percy capped Riptide, but kept the pen in his hand just incase this was a trick of Gaea, or even Tartarus himself.

Luke took a step forward, and tried to step next to a now standing Annabeth. although Percy was about to collapse from weariness and pain, he put himself between The Son of Hermes and Annabeth.

"Answer the question." he said through gritted teeth. Luke sighed, took a step back, and looked Percy in the eye. Then he noticed something.

Luke's eyes are blue, he thought. But here his eyes are black. Percy didn't have time to analyze what he was seeing, because just then an invisible force clamped over Annabeth's mouth and she fell unconscious.

"Annabeth!" Percy called out, running to her aid. But Luke's voice stopped him cold.

"Leave her be Hero." he spat out the last word. "I have no business with her, it's you I promised revenge to." Now Percy was really confused.

"But we made our peace Luke." he said carefully, scared for Annabeth. "Right before you died." Luke snarled before answering,

"How could I make peace with you Percy, when it's your fault I'm here?"

"What?" Percy asked shocked, but scared for the direction that the conversation might go in.

"If it weren't for you, I would still be alive. you couldn't save me Percy, it's your fault that we're dead."

"Who's we?" Percy stuttered out.

"All of the people you've killed." Luke answered and spread his hands out. People started emerging from the darkness. All of the People that Percy blamed himself for killing. the first to come out was Charles Benkondorf. at the sight of him, Percy's throat closed up.

"Luke, don't do this." he managed to choke out, but his old enemy either didn't hear him or didn't care as Benkondorf started speaking. At his words, Percy went rigid, and lost all functions of his body. he said,

"Percy, you left me. You just took off, and jumped over the edge of the ship and swam away, like a coward. if you were stronger, you could have saved both of us, but because of you, I died and ended up here." the last part came out in a whisper.

he's not real, Percy tried to convince himself. he has black eyes as well. its obviously not really them, just don't listen to what they have to say. but all resolve quickly crumbled as the last person he wanted to see emerged from the darkness.

The one person that he knew, no matter what everyone said, was dead because of him. many times, Percy whished that he would have taken the demigod's place in death. it would have been so much easier to have died instead. Many times, he had tried to make peace with himself over the death, but he couldn't do it. her death was truly his fault, and when she spoke, he broke

"Percy," Bianca said. "Because of your idea, I died. You should have taken my place, but you didn't. You should've taken my place, it would've been easier if you died right then and there. Your not a true hero. a true hero would have been able to save ALL of us. But we, and many more died because of you."

Percy stood in stunned silence, and even though he knew he shouldn't, he believed their words, every single one. it's all my fault, I should've died years ago. But as soon as Bianca finished speaking, another form stepped out of the darkness, and Percy's eyes went wide.

"Mom?" he gasped. he surged forward but stopped a few feet in front of his mother when he realized two things. 1) his mother isn't dead and shouldn't  be in Tartarus and 2) her eyes were also back.

"No." he muttered horrified. he knew that whatever his mother said to him, Percy would believe whether it was really her or not. Her words would either save him, or push him over the edge. Percy took a few steps back and his mother started,

"Percy, you are a mistake. You should've never been born. Just stay here Percy, its better for everyone."

And that was it, the last straw, Percy was officially broken inside and out.

"Mom, you don't mean that." he begged desperately " Please tell me that you don't mean that." But she said nothing, and Percy collapsed, sobbing. he faintly noticed that everyone was walking toward him, repeating constantly what they had said before.

"Stop!" he Yelled. "STOP!!!!" Percy felt a strange tug in his gut, and the cavern started to shake. His ghosts dissolve into fog, and Annabeth woke up as rocks started to collapse from the ceiling. She looked at him, worried and terrified. Percy tried to stop, but he couldn't  control himself, or his sobbing. he didn't notice, nor could he move as rocks continued falling around him, and Annabeth tried to walk over to calm him down.

he also didn't notice that there were cracks appearing at her feet, until the floor gave away, and Annabeth fell into further darkness.
