Annabeth XXXIII
As soon as Annabeth lost consciousness, she immediately entered her first demigod nightmare since Percy made a deal with Tartarus. She was standing outside, and night had fallen. On one side of her, there stood a thick forest and on the other, a mountain of solid rock formed. Near the base of the mountain, stood two, raven black, twenty foot, doors, and they were wide open. One side of the Doors of Death, she thought. I wonder if I can... Annabeth willed herself to move forward, and her dream self obeyed.
soon she was standing directly in front of the doors and looking in. There was about a three yard gap between the two identical pairs of doors. Annabeth could see the darkness of Tartarus looming in front of her, but before she could analyze the location of the doors on the Tartarus' side, Gaea emerged in front of her, in all her earthy glory.
"Now, now dear demigod." she tutted. "That information is confidential. it would be no fun for me if you already knew where the doors were." Annabeth clenched her fists and tried to speak, but of course, nothing happened.
What are you doing here? she thought instead.
"well, that's simple I am here to shatter your mind." and with that she waved her hand and disappeared. Anabeth stood there confused. What was that all about? she thought, but she got her answer soon enough as a group of demigods emerged from the tree line, and an entire army of nasties appeared in front of the doors. Annabeth tried to take in the condition of her friends, but it was like the vision was moving in fast forward. everything was a blur as the group of demigods attacked the monsters.she watched in horror as each and everyone of her friends fell in battle, and as the monsters cheered in victory.
then Annabeth found herself at Camp Half Blood, and she saw that the whole place was on fire. The woods were completely demolished, and the big house was set aflame. fallen demigods clothed in orange and purple scattered the ground. There wasn't a single living soul left to be seen. Annabeth started trembling as the picture moved forward again, and she was back in Tartarus, running alongside Percy. The doors were only a few feet away, and Annabeth could see the daylight and breath in the fresh air.
They both put on a burst of speed and just as they emerged past the door line, a mist wrapped itself around Percy's ankle, and he let out a yelp of surprise. But before Annabeth could react, he gave her one look of complete horror as he was pulled back into Tartarus, and the Doors slammed shut.
"See Annabeth," Gaea said. "Its hopeless." and then Annabeth was engulfed in light.
when she opened her eyes, she was back in Tartarus, with Luke nowhere to be seen. Annabeth was almost glad, but that was until she noticed that the entire cavern was shaking, about to cave in on itself. she stood up, trying to keep her balance despite the shaky floor, and desperately looked for Percy, putting the horrible visions out of her head for the time being. When her eyes found him, she was ready to kill Luke herself for whatever he did to Percy.
He was kneeling on the ground, how he did it with a shattered leg, she didn't know, his fists clenched so tight that there was a trickle of blood trialing down his wrists. His body was shaking from heavy sobs, and Annabeth had no doubt that his condition was what was causing the earthquake.
I have to stop him before he either hurts himself, or buries us alive. she thought as she carefully made her way over to him, avoiding the falling boulders crashing around her. The floor was shaking horribly now, and Annabeth's heart was beating so fast, she thought she was going to go into cardiac arrest.
