How would it feel like to shoot someone?
Michael looked at the gun in his hands. And he twirled it around slowly.
Of course. That was insane. He would rather shoot himself than anyone else.
But he wondered.
He had won the gun once at a pub downtown. After everything that happened, he didn't usually hang out with good people.
He needed to stop thinking about the old days.
Not that it helped in anything. His mind wondered places and his heart felt nothing.
School was almost over. Leaving behind the rainy days. Now only sun could be seen. Summer was just around the corner. And worst of all, Luke had been on his case lately.
"Hey Michael, what are you up to?"
"Hey, how's it been?"
"What have you been up to?"
"Are you doing anything after school?"Michael loved Luke. But he doesn't know when to back off. He just pushes and pushes. It's because he cares. Michael knows that. But he wishes Luke would care a bit less. It would be so much easier.
Michael was tossing a ball towards the wall of his bedroom. Bored out of his mind. When his cellphone begun to ring.
Unknown Number
He wrapped the gun on an old T-shirt and put it in one drawer. He accepted the call.
Before he could say a word a loud voice said through the speaker.
"Hey, Michael! Oh, at least I hope it's you. It would be very awkward if it wasn't you. I hope you don't get mad. I asked Alex for your number. He was surprised but he gave it anyways" she paused lightly and when Michael was about to speak, she started rambling once again. "I'm sorry, I guess I'm nervous to talk to you. And that makes no sense considering I started this conversation." He decided to just sit on his bed and wait for her to stop ranting. "This is really awkward well for me, oh. Um, I'll let you talk"
Michael chuckled lightly. Avery blushed at the other end of the phone. "Hey, Avery." Was all he said as he left himself fall down on the bed. It had been a while since he had a normal conversation on the phone. He was wondering how the conversation would actually end up. "How's it been?"
"Hey, Michael. It's been... um, good." Michael sensed a certain nervous tone to her voice. He had never heard her be nervous before. But yet again, he barely knew her. "I'm sorry to just call like this. But I actually have an invite for you."
It was Michael's turn to be nervous. "An invite?" He repeated. Getting up from his comfortable position on the bed.
"Yes, there's a party going on tonight and you are going." Michael was more than ready to protest when she said something back. "You can't say no. Come on! Legends say you were a true party animal. I wouldn't mind seeing you in action."
He sighed. "I really don't want to go." He replied.
"I know some part of you wants to. You'll have fun! And, I'm not giving you a choice anyway. I'll be outside your house in 10 minutes. Get ready."
The tone went flat. He got up and looked at himself in the mirror. He was wearing a green and black flannel. And some black jeans. That was enough. He wasn't going to go impress anybody. He wouldn't have any problem going out. His mom had been telling him to go out with friends for a while now.
Why is he even thinking about this? He's not going. He's going to talk to Avery and tell her to fuck off. After all, she couldn't force him to do anything.
