(Wendy's POV)

I watch as Gray is thrown back into his cage after an evaluation. It's been four weeks since we decided to break out, and we've gathered some interesting, secret abilities. I can control the air in an area and the weather. I can also run at impossible speeds. I got to test it out yesterday when we were let out of our cages. Apparently I run so fast that the human eye can't see me, and I can hold on to someone while I run and they'll come with me. We didn't test how many I could take though.
"What did you get Gray?" I ask, 'and what will you hide?' I add in his head. "The ability to control all ice and to withstand even colder temperatures." he says proudly, 'and I can make ice with just my bare hands!' he says in our heads. 'That would be cool,' Natsu teases him, 'if I couldn't do the same thing with fire. I can make fire with my bare hands!' Natsu just came back from an evaluation too.
'That's great guys!' Lucy says happily, 'I think we have enough secret abilities to start phase two, tomorrow night.' 'I agree, we each have three different, secret abilities. That should be more than enough. Tomorrow night we should be ready to break out.' Erza says. Lucy has hidden the abilities to fly, become invisible, and mess with people's minds, like watch or erase memories and read information out of their head or hear their thoughts. Gray has hidden the abilities to make ice with his hands, mold ice into whatever he wants, and momentarily freeze his hands to an object to make it stick. He can walk on the ceiling by freezing his shoes to it. Erza has hidden the abilities to fly with a special requip, jump really high, and to make whatever she wants appear out of thin air. She just has to know what the object looks like. Lastly, Natsu has hidden the abilities to make fire with his bare hands, become immune to fire, and control all fire.
'I still can't believe we're getting out!' I say gleefully. 'Tonight we can sleep with the thought that it will be our last night in The Indigo Project.' Lucy cheers. I hope this works.

                           -Tomorrow Night-

Soon we will be out. We're all prepared and waiting for the night guard to pass by our cages on patrol. Lucy is sitting in the center of the cage, invisible. I'm running so fast that the human eye can't see me, around in circles. From anyone's perspective, the cage is empty.
The much awaited guard passes by and stops. His eyes wander over to our cage and he starts to panic. Just like we expected, he hastily opens the cage and looks around to ensure he's not crazy before he calls for help. I run out of the cage and Lucy steps out after me, still invisible. This is the tricky part. Lucy quickly erases the guard's memory of not seeing us in the cage. While he's confused and the memory erases, Lucy grabs the keys on his belt. Slowly, he walks on, like nothing happened. I let out a breath. That was the most risky part of the whole plan.
'Good,' Natsu says in our heads, 'Now bust us out of here!' As soon as Lucy unlocks everyone's cages and we're all out, we can move on the part two. When Lucy went into the guards mind, she copied a picture of the map of the lab and pasted it in her own mind. She also copied all his data on The Indigo Project. Once we get out of here, Lucy can tap into it and get the answers we need. She's leading the group as we tiptoe to the exit.
We reach a corner. 'Around this corner should be a back entrance, but it will probably have a guard or two by it.' Lucy says. This is where Gray comes in. I watch as he climbs up to the ceiling and slowly rounds the corner. After a few minutes, he comes back saying, 'There's five guards, three guns, and a tranquilizer. Also the door has an alarm that can only be deactivated with a key.'
'Great, we can handle that.' Lucy says confidently, 'Wendy, I want you to momentarily remove the oxygen from the air around them. Then, Erza can see the tranquilizer and make copies, shooting the guards. Wendy will add oxygen again. Gray will freeze them in an upright position and I can erase their memories. After that, we can use the key from the guard's belt and get out of this place. Everyone know what they have to do?' We all nod and the plan begins.
Before we knew it, all the guards were unconscious, we were all standing in front of the exit, and Lucy had the key in her hand. The plan worked perfectly. We all take a deep breath and she puts the key in the lock. She slowly turns it, enjoying every second. We hear a click and the door slides open.
Fresh air floods my nose and the moon shines down on us. We slowly step out onto the cool grass. We're all bare foot; shoes were decided unnecessary here. Now that I think about it, Natsu and I are the the only ones who have really lived outside of those walls. Erza and Gray might have a few fading memories, but Lucy is probably experiencing grass for the first time.
I look at her and can't help but smile. She's grinning the biggest smile ever and staring at the ground like it's made of gold. Erza and Gray are acting like the grass is an old memory or a forgotten treasure. I look at Natsu and realize he's looking at Lucy. He's smiling too. I think he really likes her.
After a few minutes of just standing there, we start walking. We don't really know where we're going, but we're following the road away from the lab. This feels so good. Soon we start talking and laughing at what we had done. Lucy starts flying and staring at everything. Erza decides to look at the sky and stare at all the stars. I joined her and started pointing out constellations. Natsu is talking to Gray about plans and when we should stop and stuff like that.
After a few minutes of discussion, we decided we would put as much distance between us and the lab as possible. We would walk as long as our legs would allow. We also decided we would head for my house. There, Lucy can read the guard's new information. I can't wait to see my parents. We don't really have a plan after that, but I'm sure my parents will take care of us. I just can't believe we're out.
This is the beginning of many good things. We can go home, Lucy can experience the world, we can wear real clothes, we can live normal lives, we can run, we can enjoy life, we can have fun, and we will finally, after everything we went through, be free. Yes, this is the beginning of many good things.
