Chapter 4

"You should be ashamed of yourselves." Mrs. Hannigan chides us. "Neglecting your responsibilities," she looks at Kelsey who holds her head down. "And letting an unauthorized person do your job." She then looks at me and I want to defend myself, but I was just as guilty for not doing anything about Sage.

"I’m not sure if I should let you two help out with the blood drive again." She continues.

"I understand, just don’t kick me off of student council." I beg.

"Same goes for me." Kelsey adds.

She gives us one more stern look before sighing, "I guess I'm willing to forgive this, but for now I'm going to have you two closely monitored."

She dismisses us and as I'm walking to my 6th period, I see Sage strutting down the hall way with her pants legs still covered in blood. Some people turn around and look and whenever she catches someone doing so, she gives them a creepy smile that makes them turn away. Like I said before, you have to admire her confidence. When she catches sight of me, she approaches and slings one hand over my shoulder like we're already best buds.

"You know you have to pay my dry cleaning bill, right? These were my favorite pair of jeans."

I glance down at her professional ripped jeans. "Um, I didn't tell you to run into a bag full of plasma."

She snorts. "You're funny,"

"How is it you haven't been caught anyway?"

She smirks at me, "It must be my ninja skills and since I haven't been called, I guess I have you to thank for it." She punches me in the arm before leaving to her next class.

I rubbed the tender spot where she hit me. Could this be a start of a friendship?

***

After a long day of school, I loved finding solitude at the book store. It was quiet and I always got a chance to skim through the latest releases. Plus, my only friend, Virgil Votaw is my co-worker. So, you could see how it was my safe heaven. Unfortunately for me, Virgil is still on his study abroad trip in France, which means I have no one to vent to about my current problems. I'm skimming through a graphic novel when I hear someone clear their throat.

"Aren't you supposed to be working?" An annoyed voice ask.

I look up and smile at Virgil's mock scowl. "Virgil," I shout, wrapping my arms around him. He laughs, clearly not angry with me at all.

"I missed you too, Penguin," he says, patting my back.

I pull away from him. "So how was Pari?"

"it was exciting, but I'm sure you don't want to hear the details." He walks past me and goes behind the cash register.

I follow him. "What do you mean I don't want to hear about it?" He keeps us his aloof demeanor. "Oh you know, all the Parisian girls I seduced and the trouble I got into."

"Hm, I would love to hear about the trouble, but I'll pass on the girls."

"Well lets just say I won't get invited to the clubs anytime soon..."

At the end of his story, I'm laughing so hard to the point of tears. "How could you not know you were making nout with a tranny?"

He narrows his eyes at me. "It was dark and how was I supposed to know it was a gay bar? Everything was in French."
