I woke up with a splitting headache and was covered in mud and what looked like oil from the waist down covering my leather boots and blue jeans I syed in annoyance and looked around and was startled to find myself in an old and odd looking room and decided to look around to find a person to ask were I am. I looked out the window to find dawn fast approaching and decided to see if anyone was home so I opened the door to my room and wondered a bit till I found what looked like the kitchen and sat down and waited and closed my eyes, (10 minutes later) I here foot steps in my direction and open my eyes to find an old looking man in bronze colored leather clothing who smiled at me, well hello I'm mr Johnston and I'm the owner of this here cottage and what's your name young man? I'm onyx amethyst nice to meet you I said as I shook his hand, so we're am I and what year is it if sorta been traveling and lost track of everything.
Well you're I the steampunk territory of the south west and the near the city of iron and the year according to yesterday is the first of 1877 boy you sure don't aren't from around here are you ?, ( I tried to figure out some of the top of my head as quickly as possible so I decided to tell a half truth) no I'm not actually I'm from over the vast body of water to west of here where my people where clothes like me and are at peace and where everyone has enough food for many days, that must be nice so what are you doing over here young man.
I heard they were inventors and great city's made of large quantities of metal where people could work and not be bothered and I sort of ran away from home I was having a horrible life and decided to start a new one where they would never look I said with confidence and conviction.
Well onyx how about a deal you and your friend work for me and help around the farm and you have a place to sleep and food to eat, (I considered the offer over for a few minutes) you got your self a deal my new friend,it's my pleasure it been lonely around here and hard with keeping up with the animals and chores I will make breakfast and you can start by feeding the hogs the chickens and the cows and then il have you check if we're running low on hay and slop.
Qok il do that ( 30 minutes later of hard work) it's done well need some more hay soon and the slop is fine I said to mr Johnston and was surprised to see another boy About my age which I assume mr Johnston thought I was friends with what's your name again it's been so long I said to him hoping he catches on, it eldwin remember he said as I shook his hand, mine I whisper low enough so mr Johnston doesn't hear my names onyx.
so onyx are you ready to hear mr Johnston's deal ?,I already heard it and I excepted it because we really needed a place to sleep and I said, oh he said surprised with what I thought was a little annoyance thrown into it well that's good, hey eldwin since its been so long since I've been here can you show me around here, Yeah no problem I know this town like the back of my hand eldwin said leading me out the door
Aw so it finally coming true the old man said sadly if only they knew what lay ahead of them and what their to become.
