Chapter 9 Saving the Prince of Steam

I woke up and panicked for about a minute before I remembered where I was and climbed a conveniently placed rope ladder to see what time it looked to be, I climbed out of the top of the bag only to find that I was in a tree it didn't look high so I slid down to the next branch and jumped luckily I didn't break anything and I turned to find eldwin in a hammock in the tree I just jumped out of and then I turned back to creating a fire and making breakfast. I eventually gave up with sore hands from trying the fire spindle method and decided to reach in my bag to find a lighter and some frozen bacon enough for two with some sliced bread,it didn't take long for eldwin to wake up the the delicious smell of bacon that no possible man or boy could resist and devoured it so fast I wondered if he even tasted it.

Good morning eldwin, good morning onyx he said happily, ok let's get moving we started traveling on the border of the magic and no magic kingdom we had decided to stop at an suspiciously looking tavern were I had eldwin order some food because I didn't trust the big half man,half machine serving or food and was quite scared when eldwin told me of the war between magic and steam and was scared that we would get caught but we lucked out and finished our food and  left and continued on the boarder until I heard a noise instincts telling me to find out what it was I didn't hear eldwin warning me that it could be one of the dark ones as I got closer with a cautious eldwin behind me I found dead guards.

I was shocked to find one that had a arrows in his chest but was still able to breath, what happened I asked the dying guard as I nealed to check under the porcupined breast plate but was surprised to find the guard weakly push me away, it's  over for me lad he spoke with an accent we where attacked by these monsters dressed in rags he rasped we managed to give the prince some time to get away but I doubt he got far with the beast after him,which direction did he go I asked, the guard weakly pointed towards the magic filled side of the boarder, as I tuned around to thank him I saw his hand arm fall and his body visibly slump, we have to find the prince eldwin said bring me out of my staring contest with the dead, let's go then and we ran into the magic side of the boarder.

It didn't take long for us to hear the unmistakable sound of clashing swords which caused us t hurry, we must of surprised the monsters with our sudden arrival which eldwin took advantage of chopping the heads of two of the ghouls eldwin had called them and started swinging at the mass that tried to swarm him but some how he made it to the other side forgetting me as two ghouls limped my way, really I said as the first ghoul reached me and lunged and I let the magic dagger get imbedded in what was left of its skull dropping it to find another ghoul lung at me oh shit I said as the ghoul was suddenly a ball of flames and another boy around my age look at me.

thanks I needed some help the boy said as he handed me on of his swords strapped to his waist which I gladly excepted and charged the mass following eldwin,( one hour later) holy hell I said out of breath from all chopping and slicing of the ghouls which also turned out to be recently be bandits I was about to say it all clear when I saw two forms behind the new boy, Watch out I said pointed behind him he turned and some how throws a fire ball in the first ones face and kicking the second one up in the air then some how spear it plunging

I looked at him what's your name, it Ray, Ray star, may I see your sword I pointed to his other sword with intricate details on its hilt strapped to his waist he shrugged and handed me his sword watching me, what are you looking for he said, oh nothing I said pulling out the copies of the prophecy with the symbols and was surprised to find his symbol well welcome to the group in said holding out my hand, ray looked at me quizzically what? he doesn't know eldwin said, I don't know what the prince said a little ticked, this I said holding the book towards him it took him a few minutes then the book dropped out of his shaky hands with a muffled thwack as it hit mud, no steaming way Ray said, it explains your ability eldwin air quoted, and what do you know ray said arrogantly.

but was stopped when eldwin stomped the ground causing a stone wall to appear out of the ground and leavening the prince speechless, Ray looked at me expecting me to do something but I just pulled out the card with my family crest pointing out the open book, well this is going to be fun the prince said sincerely by I must leave to ask my father a few questions ray said angrily, do you mind if we come with you  we should stick together since we're all here are in danger from the dark ones eldwin said, sure the prince said cooling down, great I said it settled lets get a move on I would like meet the prince of steam this earning a chuckle from both eldwin and Ray, what I asked which made them both bust up laughing, what I said angrily as they both got up, I am the prince of steam ray said surprising me well we're burning day light let go I said as now the three of us started towards the other side of the boarder to the kingdom of steam.
