"Five hundred thousand dollars!"

"Five hundred thirty dollars!"

"Five hundred six thousand dollars!"

The people in the great hall had lower bids than I had thought and I rolled my eyes and looked at Max, she huffed and took a sip of the champagne a young waitress just had offered to us. The room went quiet as the man on the top of the stairs waited for the next bid but it was no signs of another bid coming.

"One Million Dollars!" I screamed out and the crowd gasped, suddenly all eyes was on me and Max and I tried my best to play it cool. I looked up at Lea that was searching for the man who had shouted out the offer and when we locked eyes her mouth dropped.

The moment I had taken the last step down the staircase Aaron's arms were around my waist and he pulled me close to him, a slow song was playing which I wasn't very happy for. He held one of my hands tightly while the other one was placed on my waist, he guided me softly and it took every fiber in my body not to break down into tears. To see him had hurt more than I had thought and being this close to him made me feel like I just had been punched in the stomach, my breath was un-even and kept hitching in my throat as we swept around on the dance-floor. I let my glance fall on him, just for a second or two, and I felt my heart take an extra beat. His hair was slicked back but it still refused to be all flat in the ends, it was adorable and it gave away the fact that his hair was a curly mess underneath. He smelled like alcohol and like the expensive cigarettes that my grandfather used to love, yet his own scent made it all up and he managed to smell good. I breathed in the familiar scent and then took a shaky breath.

I didn't understand why he was here or why he just had spent one million dollars, on me. It was crazy and even though I wanted to turn my back on him and leave the Bling Ball right now, I just couldn't. Aaron had made a mistake and it was no way that I would be able to forget what he had done to me, he had hurt me more than anyone ever had. But by coming here I knew that he had something important to tell me. Or at least I hoped. He had brought Maxine with him and the fact that he had made my blood boil. If he came here to explain himself he should have understood that taking Maxine with him wasn't a good idea. Maybe Mark and Regina had dragged him with them? Quickly I let my glance fall over the enormous ballroom but I couldn't see either Mark or Regina. It seemed as if he had came here without getting forced to. It just didn't make sense.

"I came here to apologize." Aaron hadn't said a word until now but was suddenly ready to speak up. I looked at him and waited for him to continue. "I made a mistake." He looked at me through his lashes as he spoke. His hazel eyes were dark and he looked so worn out that I got worried, he had dark circles under his eyes and I was afraid that he would pass out any minute. The smirk that usually played on his lips wasn't even trying to show it's nasty face.

"Apologize? Mistake? Yes Aaron! Yes you did a huge mistake. I made it pretty clear that I was scared of falling for you, that I was scared of getting my heart broken and without any mercy you let me fall!" My voice was barely a whisper yet it was harsh and cold, I felt tears well up in my eyes but I shoved them back quickly. "What you did to me was more than a mistake and it's just stupid of you to come here and think that I will forgive you."
