Like any other day I'm seated on the balcony of my bedroom gazing up at the stars. I can see my reflection in the sliding doors of my neighbors' house. My bedrooms balcony is adjacent this houses balcony, only a mere two feet away.
"Faye hunny it's getting late. Come inside you have school tomorrow." My mother said. Ahhh yes, school. The closest equivalent to Hell. It feels like just yesterday we were being released by the last school bell indicating summer had finally come. I had changed a lot over the summer. I was no longer the scrawny dork girl who always had her face in a book. Granted I still read for the majority of my time, but now I was no longer plagued with what could be magnified glasses as regular everyday glasses. Over the summer my vision seemed to have repaired itself. Weird huh? And my hair that used to be a dull dry looking brown, my mother had convinced me to dye a pale blonde. I had gotten my braces removed finally after four long dreadful years.
I had filled out a lot too; my once training bra sized chest had developed into a much loved C cup and if that wasn't good enough the small bubble but I used to have is now a nice fit size as my mother calls it. "I'll be in in a second" I called out to my mother who was standing in my doorway. She nodded and left quietly, leaving me to my thoughts. It's not that I was a loner It's just that I didn't like people, and truth be told they didn't like me back. For what reason I'll never know but quite frankly I could care less. I sighed before standing up and waking inside the comfy confines of my room. Tomorrow was my first day of school as a freshman, this was going to suck.
----
The blaring sound of my alarm awoke me from my peaceful dream. I groan but get out of bed anyways my whole body felt strung tight with anticipation, my guess was that it was from school but something in the back of my mind kept telling me it wasn't. I quickly showered and did my regular routine. After dressing in a simple pair of skinny jeans with a long sleeved royal blue shirt that made my auburn hair and aquamarine eyes stands out. I slipped on a pair of blue TOMS before starting on my hair. I wanted to leave it down so I simply put some gel in it to keep it from frizzing. I grabbed my side bag and my phone off my desk and left my room. Upon entering the kitchen my mother was speaking to someone whose voice I didn't recognize.
"Has she shifted yet?" The unfamiliar voice spoke. I heard my mother sigh so I assumed she was shaking her head no. I cocked an eyebrow and walked into the kitchen where my mother and another middle aged woman were seated at the dining room table with mugs in front of them.
My mother looked up at my entry and smiled
"good morning love" my mother spoke. I mumbled a morning to both of them and grabbed an Apple out of the bowl on the counter giving them my biggest smile along with the peace sign and walked out of our new house. We had just moved here from across the world, literally. I was born and raised in London England so being here in California was a whole new world to me.
"Good morning sweet heart" my dad said as he came over to kiss my forehead. I looked a lot like my father; I had his natural brown hair color along with his caramel skin tone, and his nose. I had my mother's eyes, lips, hands and feet. But my personality was all mine, I was nothing like either of my parents. As I bit into my apple I quickly spit it out not remembering how awful it tastes after you've brushed your teeth. I sighed and began my walk to school. I was told it was straight up the road so with that piece of information I was off.
This school so to say was huge. Much like the schools on London it was ninth grade through twelfth combined. I raked my hands through my hair trying my best to motivate myself. Without a glance toward anyone I made my way to the brick building with the letters that spelled office on the front. Approaching the counter I was met by an over lady who didn't look very welcoming.
